Vasyl Lomachenko finishes Masayoshi Nakatani in spectacular fashion (Video)

Top-rated pound-for-pound boxer Vasyl Lomachenko finished his opponent Masayoshi Nakatani in spectacular fashion on Saturday night in boxing. Lomachenko was making his first appearance in the boxing ring since losing his lightweight titles last year to Teofimo Lopez in an upset. Against Nakatani, Lomachenko got right back to work as he looked unbelievable in this fight against the Japanese boxer, lighting him up with strikes and then finally finishing him in spectacular fashion in the ninth round of the fight when Nakatani was no longer able to defend himself and the ref stopped the fight. Teofimo Lopez Jr. pulled off a massive upset this evening in Las Vegas when he defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko via unanimous decision. With the victory, Lopez Jr. (16-0, 12 KO’s) took home the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and The Ring lightweight titles.

Vasyl Lomachenko has been getting a ton of praise for his superior boxing skills and IQ. Lomachenko just defended his WBO super featherweight title against the previously unbeaten WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who quit on the stool before the start of round seven. That makes the fourth opponent in a row to end the fight against Lomachenko by RTD.

There are very few combat sports athletes on the planet that are just as special as world boxing champion, Vasyl Lomachenko. And the public eye is starting to take notice. Reports have come in from Nielsen stating that the ESPN boxing event headlined by Lomachenko vs Guillermo Rigondeaux did twice as many numbers as the UFC Fight Night 123 event in Fresno, California headlined by Cub Swanson vs Brian Ortega. Getting to specifics, the Top Rank event between Lomachenko and Rigondeaux brought in 1.73 million viewers, with UFC Fight Night 123 bringing in 870,000. Both surpassed the HBO boxing event where Miguel Roman defeated Orlando Salido which only did 576,000. Top Rank President Todd DuBoef was happy with the news: “We’re thrilled with our relationship with ESPN and what it’s meant to bring boxing to a broader fan base,” DuBoef said. “We’re not on an island [on HBO/Showtime] anymore. It’s resonating, and we’re proud.”
