Geoff Neal arrested for DWI on Thanksgiving

Geoff Neal has run into some legal troubles ahead of his next fight. The 31-year old Neal was arrested on Thanksgiving this past week according to MMA Junkie who received Texas police reports. Per the documents filed by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Neal was arrested at 3:47 AM where he was found driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon. The UFC welterweight contender’s bond was set to $1,000 and he would be released at 8:08 PM on the Nov. 25 holiday.

UFC welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev took aim at “fake gangster” Nake Diaz, saying that “I’m here to kill everyone.” Chimaev is one of the hottest fighters on the UFC roster right now. Since making his promotional debut on Fight Island in July 2020, Chimaev has had four fights and has won all four of them by stoppage, absorbing an incredible one significant strikes in four fights. What “Borz” has been doing has been incredible to watch, and there are many fans and media who believe he could be in line to get a title shot at 170lbs in 2022. But before he gets the title shot, the UFC wants him to fight at least once more, preferably against Diaz.

UFC president Dana White revealed the expected timeline for Conor McGregor’s return to training following the broken leg he suffered. McGregor broke his leg against rival Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight, which took place at UFC 264 in July. For McGregor, it was a devastating injury to suffer, but he has been working hard during his rehab in order to heal his injury and get closer to returning. While he isn’t going to be fighting again in 2021, obviously, we will hopefully see McGregor back in the Octagon in 2022 if things go well. And now we have a timeline for the possibility.

Dana White says the UFC is “working on something” for Leon Edwards, but it’s not a fight with current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Edwards (19-3 MMA) was slated to square off with Jorge Masvidal at next Saturday’s UFC 269 event. However, after ‘Gamebred’ suffered a rib injury in training, he was ultimately forced to pull out of the contest.
Former UFC title challenger Felicia Spencer announces her retirement at age 31

Former UFC title challenger Felicia Spencer shocked fight fans this afternoon when she announced her retirement from MMA. The 31-year-old, Spencer (9-3 MMA), had most recently competed just 19 days ago at UFC Vegas 42 where she scored a third round TKO victory over Leah Letson.

Aspen Ladd wants to settle the score with Miesha Tate now that she’s announced her return to the bantamweight division. In the last few months, Miesha Tate has been fairly critical of fellow UFC fighter Aspen Ladd. It began when Tate spoke about Ladd’s issues with cutting weight, before the former champion doubled down on her criticism by bringing up the fact that Ladd is in a relationship with Jim West, her coach, after West hit back at Tate for her weigh-in remarks.

Ever since his debut in the promotion last year, Khamzat Chimaev has been like a house on fire. He’s gone 4-0 in the UFC, been impressive across two different weight classes and has everyone under the sun either wanting to fight him or avoiding him like the plague.

Chael Sonnen has claimed that the UFC wants to book Nick Diaz vs Kevin Holland at welterweight next year. It’s been an interesting year for both Nick Diaz and Kevin Holland with regards to their mixed martial arts careers, but it hasn’t necessarily been all too successful for either of them. Holland went from 5-0 in 2020 to 0-2 with one no contest to his name in 2021, cementing a fairly dramatic fall from grace. Diaz, on the other hand, made his long-awaited return to action after six years away in an entertaining defeat to Robbie Lawler.

Dan Hooker may be returning to his old division of 145-pounds where his teammate, Alexander Volkanovski, reigns supreme as champion. This wouldn’t be the first time Hooker fights at featherweight if it does happen. Entering the UFC in June 2014, Hooker returned to the class after a lightweight stint and went 3-3 before moving back up in 2017.
