The UFC was back at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday for a lackluster UFC Vegas 95 card, which was headlined by Serghei Spivac vs. Marcin Tybura at heavyweight. Heading into the bout, Spivac was looking to avenge his 2020 loss to Tybura. Spivac was coming off a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane which had snapped his three-fight winning streak. Tybura, meanwhile, was coming off a submission win over Tai Tuivasa to return to the win column after a TKO loss to Tom Aspinall.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till didn’t let an online troll go unaddressed in questioning why the promotion would re-sign him. Till parted ways with the UFC just a few months after a submission loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282. On his way out of the UFC, Till lost five of his last six fights, with the last win coming against Kelvin Gastelum by split decision at UFC 244.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington turned from heel to hero to help catch alleged child predators in Florida. Covington hasn’t fought in the Octagon since a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 in December. Edwards has since lost the belt to Belal Muhammad, who is expected to face Shavkat Rakhmonov or another top contender for his first title defense.

UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has been known to gain weight after fights and he did just that following his latest win. Pimblett picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC 304 as he scored a first-round submission victory over Bobby Green. The impressive finish moved Pimblett into the lightweight rankings and ‘The Baddy’ has obviously been celebrating that accomplishment as he’s gained 42lbs since the UFC 304 weigh-in day.

UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik vehemently denies any favoritism during Belal Muhammad’s title win in Manchester last month. Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight championship at UFC 304. His ongoing 11-fight unbeaten streak was capped off by a largely-dominant win over the incumbent Edwards in a rematch of their 2021 clash.

That bout ended a long hiatus for Colby Covington, and he was largely dominated. Post-fight, the welterweight revealed a foot injury that hindered his performance. Now healthy, Covington has chosen to remain on the sidelines, rather than fighting the likes of Ian Garry.

Russian athletes were banned from the 2024 Summer Olympics after the country invaded Ukraine in early 2022. Only a handful of athletes from Russia competed at this year’s games, but were forced to compete as “individual neutral athletes”.
