Tyson Fury called out by multiple UFC heavyweights following win over Deontay Wilder

Adam D Martin - February 23, 2020

Multiple UFC heavyweights including champion Stipe Miocic and top contender Francis Ngannou called out Tyson Fury after his win over Deontay Wilder. Fury finished Wilder in the seventh round via TKO on Saturday night in Las Vegas after outclassing him the entire fight in the pair’s rematch after they fought to a draw in December 2018. It’s by far the biggest win of Fury’s career and puts him in a position for another massive fight his next time out.

UFC lightweight warriors Dan Hooker and Paul Felder reunited in the hospital following their main event at UFC Auckland for a memorable photo together. Hooker and Felder went to war for 25 minutes in the headliner of UFC Auckland, with Hooker emerging as the winner via split decision in a close, back-and-forth battle that won “Fight of the Night.” Both men inflicted tons of punishment on each other during the fight so it’s not surprising each fighter was sent to the hospital after the bout as each man needed to be checked out for any potential injuries.

UFC lightweights Paul Felder and Dan Hooker delivered fight fans an epic five round war in the headliner of tonight’s event in Auckland. Unfortunately for ‘The Irish Dragon’, Felder ended up on the wrong end of a split decision as two judges in attendance scored the bout in favor of the New Zealand native. You can see how fellow UFC fighters reacted to that judges ruling here.

Paulo Costa has unloaded on reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya for his questionable 9/11 remark at the UFC 248 press conference. At Friday’s press conference in Las Vegas, ‘Stylebender’ raised eyebrows when he stated that he would make his UFC 248 opponent Yoel Romero “crumble like the twin towers”.

Nick Diaz and CM Punk are both still undergoing drug tests from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the official anti-doping partner of the UFC. UFC 249, scheduled for April 18 in Brooklyn, New York, is arguably the most anticipated card on the promotion’s calendar. That’s thanks in large part to the main event: a lightweight title fight between undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and streaking challenger Tony Ferguson. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been scheduled to fight a whopping four times previously, but the bout has consistently failed to come to fruition.

Conor McGregor reacts to NSAC banning Wilder-Fury staredown, suggests solution

Tom Taylor - February 21, 2020

The Nevada State Athletic Commission recently made the decision to ban Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury from squaring off after they weigh in for their Saturday night rematch, evidently wary after the pair got physical at a press conference earlier this week. Former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor is not on board with this decision. McGregor reacted to this bizarre decision from the NSAC on Twitter. He began by praising the commission for the work it does, but then offered a solution that will allow Wilder and Fury to square off: just beef up security!

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Joanne Calderwood opening betting odds released

Adam Martin - February 21, 2020

The opening betting odds have been released for the upcoming UFC women’s flyweight title fight at UFC 251 between champion Valentina Shevchenko and challenger Joanne Calderwood. ESPN broke the news this week that Shevchenko vs. Calderwood will take place on June 6 at a location and venue that is do-be-determined. Typically the UFC visits Chicago in June so there’s a chance the card could be placed there yet again, though that’s not confirmed yet. Regardless, it seems like Shevchenko vs. Calderwood will wind up as the co-main event on the card.

Khabib Nurmagomedov coach: 'We’re not in control' of potential Conor McGregor rematch

Tom Taylor - February 21, 2020

Conor McGregor wants a rematch with UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, but Nurmagomedov seems increasingly uninterested in this possibility. Contrary to Nurmagomedov’s disinterest in the rematch, it’s been widely speculated that McGregor will serve as the replacement opponent for the champ’s UFC 249 fight with Tony Ferguson, meaning he’d step in and fight if one of the two men fails to make it to the cage.

Michael Chiesa responds after Coach Fabia reveals plans for 'death choke' at UFC 239

Harry Kettle - February 21, 2020

Michael Chiesa has issued a response after claims from Diego Sanchez’s coach Joshua Fabia that they had plans for a ‘death choke’ at UFC 239. Chiesa and Sanchez went toe to toe during International Fight Week back in July 2019 with the former coming out on top in a fairly lopsided unanimous decision victory. Alas, even though Chiesa has gone on to also beat Rafael dos Anjos, there’s a whole lot more attention on Sanchez right now following his controversial DQ win at UFC Rio Rancho last weekend.
