Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is moving on from Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. The British fighter is fresh off a first-round knockout win over Sergei Pavlovich in November at UFC 295. Tom Aspinall famously stepped in on two weeks’ notice to face the Russian, after Jon Jones suffered an injury. As a result, his scheduled title defense with Stipe Miocic was scrapped.

Jon Jones will not dismiss the possibility of fighting interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Jones is the main UFC heavyweight champion, but he couldn’t go through with a planned defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 back in November 2023. Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle, and had to be sidelined. As a result, Aspinall was booked to face Sergei Pavlovich for the interim gold. Aspinall scored a first-round knockout win.

Jones was scheduled to defend his title against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295, but “Bones” suffered a torn pectoral muscle. The bout was replaced by an interim heavyweight title matchup between Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich. Aspinall knocked Pavlovich out in just over a minute.
