Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is predicting a first-round finish over rival Alberto Del Rio when they meet next weekend at Combate: Hidalgo. After months of back-and-forth trash-talking, Ortiz and Del Rio’s feud has come to a boiling point and they will meet next weekend to settle their beef once and for all in the headliner of Combate: Hidalgo. The event takes place on Saturday, December 7 at Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It’s by far the biggest event in the history of Combate Americas and will be aired live on pay-per-view.

MMA legend Tito Ortiz is bridging the gap between sports and entertainment, as the 44-year old will reportedly help Youtube star Logan Paul transition into MMA. The 24-year old internet sensation has amassed over 20 million followers due to his video content and Impaulsive podcast. He has recently been dabbling in combat sports and faced his fellow Youtuber, KSI, in a boxing match in 2018. The fight resulted in a majority draw.

UFC legend Tito Ortiz is a massive betting favorite to beat rival Alberto Del Rio at their upcoming matchup in the Combate Americas promotion. Ortiz is scheduled to meet Del Rio at Combate Americas: Hidalgo, which takes place on December 7 at Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 210lbs.

At the very least, he said, he’d do better than Daniel Cormier has against Jones. “I think I would do a lot better against Jon Jones than Daniel Cormier, because Cormier is just a shorter guy (with) bigger legs, bigger torso,” Ortiz said recently on the Domenick Nati Show (transcript via Bloody Elbow). “He’s just a big, big guy.

There’s still time for Askren to make his mark, but a devastating flying knee KO defeat to Jorge Masvidal has at least served as a bump in the road.

Perhaps one of the most surprising upsets in UFC history took place back in 2011 at UFC 132. At the time, Ryan Bader was a young, hungry, up-and-coming light heavyweight who had recently won The Ultimate Fighter. Tito Ortiz, meanwhile, was a veteran on his last legs and seemed destined for retirement. Or so we thought. Defying the odds, Ortiz finished Bader by submission that night in what remains to this day arguably the most impressive victory of Ortiz’ career. While it was an embarrassing night for Bader, he has since transformed himself into an elite light heavyweight and heavyweight in MMA, currently holding both belts in Bellator. Ortiz, meanwhile, still remains relevant to this day despite being in his mid 40s.

Last November, long-time boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya promoted his first MMA event. The card, which was topped by a trilogy fight between aging UFC Hall of Famers Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, received plenty of backlash — most notably from UFC President Dana White. “The guy wants to act like he’s my competitor [promoting MMA],” White told Yahoo! Sports of De La Hoya’s MMA venture. “I have a real business that I’ve built over the last 18 years. A real business, and I can hit you with numbers for days about [how successful it is]. How much has Oscar De La Hoya reinvested into the sport of boxing? We’ve reinvested millions and millions of dollars and we continue to do it every day. The list goes on and on.
