Urijah Faber (35-10 MMA) made his return to the Octagon at July’s UFC Fight Night event in his backyard Sacramento, where he scored sensational first round TKO victory over Ricky Simon. ‘The California Kid’ has gone 3-2 over his past five fights overall entering tonight’s event.

UFC 245 promises to be a star-studded fight card. The event will take place in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the December 14. In the UFC 245 main event, the current welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, will look to defend his title for the first time against Colby Covington. “The Nigerian Nightmare” claimed the belt from Tyron Woodley in their UFC 235 bout by unanimous decision. Likewise, Covington has been riding high on an impressive streak victories. Most recently, “Chaos” dominated former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler throughout five rounds to take the unanimous decision victory.

The 40-year-old returned to the Octagon back in July at UFC Sacramento, shocking a lot of fans in the process with his TKO victory over Ricky Simon. Ever since then fans have been wondering what the next step for “The California Kid” was going to be, and the answer was Petr Yan.

The UFC Hall of Famer ended his two-and-a-half-year retirement in July when he returned at UFC Sacramento and TKO’d Ricky Simon. Following the win, Urijah Faber wanted something big and called for a title shot against Henry Cejudo. However, that never came to fruition and he was offered a fight against a surging contender in Petr Yan.

Currently ranked number 4 in the bantamweight division, Yan is on a 5-0 winning streak since making his UFC debut. His intelligent footwork, great chin and technical striking ability makes him one of the most exciting upcoming UFC prospects.

At UFC 238, the vacant bantamweight title was on the line as top contender Marlon Moraes was taking on flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. After a solid first round, the Brazilian started to fade and Cejudo TKO’d him in the third. After the fight, the Olympic gold medalist mentioned how he wanted to defend both titles. However, that won’t happen this year as Henry Cejudo is out until early 2020 due to shoulder surgery. With that, Petr Yan wants an interim title fight against Aljamain Sterling, who both won their respective bouts at UFC 238.

In the card’s main event, a new bantamweight champion will be crowned as the vacant title will be fought over when flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo moves up to face Marlon Moraes. As the UFC has been doing lately, they’ve installed back up fights or fighters in the case that the main event or title fight has an issue with one of its participants. In the UFC 238 co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko looks to defend her flyweight title against Jessica Eye. Also on the card is Joanne Calderwood facing Katlyn Chookagian. Calderwood has revealed since the fight’s announcement that she will be on standby in case something happens in the title fight.
