Costa (13-1 MMA) put his undefeated mixed martial arts record on the line while hoping to dethrone middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (20-0 MMA) at last months UFC 253 pay-per-view event on Fight Island.

Jan Blachowicz has a theory as to why Jon Jones vacated his light heavyweight belt and now has a planned move up to heavyweight. At UFC 253, Blachowicz fought and beat Dominick Reyes to win the vacant light heavyweight title. Immediately after the fight, Jones tweeted asking fans if he should go try and reclaim his belt. Yet, for the Pole, he doesn’t think “Bones” has any interest in fighting him as he knows he would get knocked out.

For “The Diamond” he doesn’t understand why Diaz thinks he beat him despite the fact they have never actually fought one another.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that the winner of The Korean Zombie vs. Brian Ortega will be the next No. 1 contender at 145lbs. Zombie and Ortega meet this Saturday night in the main event of UFC Fight Island 6. Both men are former featherweight title challengers and will be looking to get another crack at the belt currently held by UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski. There have been whispers that the winner of this fight would be the No. 1 contender, and now White has confirmed the winner of the fight gets a title shot in an interview with ESPN.

Conor McGregor has accepted the UFC’s offer to fight Dustin Poirier. Over the last few weeks, McGregor and Poirier had agreed to an exhibition martial arts sparring match for charity. The UFC then stepped in and offered the fight to each other but the Irishman demanded it to be in 2020. Dana White and the UFC brass, meanwhile, made it clear January 23 is the soonest date they could do.

UFC President Dana White says Conor McGregor won’t be fighting in the year 2020, but claims the Irishman could fight in January of the new year. McGregor announced his retirement in June, but has since teased a return to the cage, most recently for a potential fight with Dustin Poirier.

The opening betting odds have been released for the upcoming middleweight bout on Halloween between strikers Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall. Silva and Hall will meet on October 31 in a five-round middleweight main event. The fight features two of the top strikers in the UFC middleweight division going at it, which should bring plenty of eyeballs to the fight despite taking place on Halloween. According to UFC president Dana White, this will be the last fight of Silva’s legendary Hall of Fame career.

This Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 6 card has lost its originally scheduled co-main event: a heavyweight fight between Cyril Gane and Ante Delija. This bout’s cancelation stems from an issue on Delija’s side of things. According to report from La Sueuer, the Croatian heavyweight was plucked from the matchup due to some lingering contract issues with the PFL, where he used to fight. The UFC was unfortunately unable to find a replacement opponent for Gane.

The main event of UFC on ESPN+ 38 is a grudge match between former featherweight title challengers Brian Ortega and The Korean Zombie. These two do not like each other and the slapping incident at UFC 248 made this a grudge match. Ortega has not fought in nearly two years since suffering a TKO loss to Max Holloway at UFC 231, while The Korean Zombie is coming off of spectacular knockouts of Frankie Edgar and Renato Moicano.
