Deiveson Figueiredo declines to fight in Mexico, cites prejudiced fan comments

Immediately following UFC 270, Deiveson Figueiredo stated that he would fight Brandon Moreno again. However, he’s since backtracked a bit since his original comments. The Brazilian said following his win over Moreno that he would fight him again, this time in Mexico. Since that original proclamation, he’s stated that he’ll only fight him again for $1 million dollars, and that a possible fourth fight won’t be held in Mexico.

Eagle FC has opted against disclosing fighter payouts from their recent event in Miami, Florida. Eagle Fight Club 44 took place at the FLXcast Arena in Miami, Florida on Friday, January 28th. Eagle FC was launched by Khabib Nurmagomedov, (29-0 MMA), who retired from the UFC in 2020 after a successful title defense over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

The controversy continues surrounding Joe Rogan and his podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ concerning Covid-19 misinformation and conspiracy theories. Artists Neil Young and Joni Mitchell asked Spotify to remove their songs from the audio streaming and media services provider, citing misinformation being offered concerning Covid-19. In early January a group of doctors and medical professionals wrote an open letter to Spotify concerning Rogan’s Covid-19 content on the podcasts, citing “false and societally harmful assertions”.

UFC aims to “enhance the fan experience” by expanding their Apex facility in Las Vegas

The UFC is planning to expand their Apex facility to increase fan capacity and enhance the overall fan experience. The live events and production center is located off the 215 Beltway near Rainbow Boulevard, in Enterprise, Nevada. The current 13,000-square-foot Apex facilities request for expansion is slated to be up for approval at Wednesday’s Feb. 2nd Clark County Zoning Commission meeting. The proposed plan is to host up to 1,000 fans for events, adding food and alcohol service, ticket booths, as well as a souvenir shop.

Costa (13-2 MMA) and Adesanya (21-1 MMA) met at UFC 253 in September 2020 at the du Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The loss was Costa’s first in his professional MMA career.
