Dana White still believes Khabib Nurmagomedov will come back to make it 30-0

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC president Dana White still believes that UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will come back to the Octagon to make it 30-0. Nurmagomedov submitted Justin Gaethje with a triangle choke in the main event of UFC 254 on Fight Island in October. Immediately after getting the finish, the Russian champion took the mic and used his post-fight speech as an opportunity to retire from mixed martial arts. However, he never made it official, and in the past few weeks, we have heard rumblings that Nurmagomedov is in fact considering fighting one more time.

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori opened as the betting favorite for his upcoming main event fight against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 16. Vettori was originally slated to fight Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256, but after Kevin Holland tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from UFC Fight Night 16, the UFC matched up Vettori against Hermansson. Holland, in turn, is now scheduled to fight Souza a week later. Vettori will now take on Hermansson in his very first UFC main event and it’s the first time he’s been booked to fight five rounds during his career.

Mike Tyson says the UFC made boxing a dying sport before YouTubers like Jake Paul saved it

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson says that the UFC made boxing a dying sport before YouTubers, like Jake Paul, saved it. Tyson returned from a 15-year layoff on Saturday night when he fought fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition boxing match that ended in a controversial draw. On the undercard of the event was a co-main event bout between the YouTuber Paul and former NBA player Nate Robinson. The brutal knockout by Paul became one of the most highly-viewed sports clips of the entire weekend. While there are certainly a lot of people talking about Tyson today, there are many also talking about Paul the YouTuber.

Dana White refuses to promote "old guy" fight between Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr.

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC president Dana White says that he refuses to promote an “old guy” fight between legends Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr. White recently released the 45-year-old Silva from the roster following a devastating knockout loss to Uriah Hall on Halloween. Silva has since become a free agent but has already been turned down by Bellator, PFL, and ONE Championship, though RIZIN remains interested. Another option for Silva is to go into boxing, and a fight against another aging legend like Jones Jr. is a possibility. The 51-year-old Jones Jr. fought 54-year-old Mike Tyson to a draw on Saturday night at a big boxing event in Los Angeles.

Video | Jack Hermansson reacts to the news Kevin Holland tested positive for COVID-19

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

A video has been released where you can watch Jack Hermansson react to the news that Kevin Holland tested positive for COVID-19. Hermansson was originally slated to take on Darren Till in the main event of UFC Vegas 16, which is set for December 5 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, bad luck hit Till and he was forced out of the fight. The UFC was then able to get Holland to step in on short notice and save the card, but he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw. The UFC then played musical chairs, matching up Marvin Vettori with Hermansson and Holland against Ronaldo Souza.

NHL star Evander Kane calls out Jake Paul for boxing match in August 2021

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

NHL star Evander Kane called out YouTuber Jake Paul for a boxing match in August 2021 after he knocked out Nate Robinson on Saturday night. Kane is one of the top power forwards in the NHL today. The 29-year-old Canadian is a member of the San Jose Sharks and previously laced up his skates for the Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets/Atlanta Thrashers. He has placed in 713 regular-season NHL games in his career, scoring 242 goals and 215 assists for 457 total points. But even more striking than his scoring numbers are his gaudy penalty minutes totals.

Kevin Holland plays musical chairs with Marvin Vettori, now faces Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256

Adam Martin - November 29, 2020

With Jack Hermansson now fighting Marvin Vettori, Kevin Holland played musical chairs and will now face Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256 instead. Holland was set to fight Hermansson in the main event of UFC Vegas 16 on December 5, but he was pulled this week from the bout after testing positive for COVID-19. The UFC then announced that Vettori would be pulled from his fight against Souza at UFC 256 on December 12 to fight Hermansson on short notice. That briefly left Souza without an opponent, but the UFC matchmakers took care of that quickly as Holland will now take on Souza at UFC 256 barring another positive test for COVID-19.

Dana White reacts to Anthony Smith’s submission win over Devin Clark

Adam D Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC president Dana White reacted following Anthony Smith’s slick triangle choke submission win over Devin Clark at UFC Vegas 15. Smith had suffered brutal losses to Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic earlier this year, so he had a lot to prove here against Clark in a fight that filled in as the main event on short notice. Although the bout was scheduled for five rounds, Smith didn’t need that much time to get the job done as he was able to lock in the submission and coax the tapout over Clark in the first round. It was a much-needed win for Smith, who figures to still remain in his customary spot in the 205lbs top-10 rankings.

Dana White issues cryptic response when questioned about the status of UFC featherweight Yair Rodriguez

Adam D Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC president Dana White issued a cryptic response when questioned about the current status of featherweight contender Yair Rodriguez. Rodriguez was supposed to fight fellow contender Zabit Magomedsharipov over the summer in what would have been a No. 1 contender bout, but Rodriguez pulled out of the fight with a supposed ankle injury. Neither Rodriguez nor Magomedsharipov has been booked to fight again since the injury, one that wasn’t supposed to keep Rodriguez out this long. It makes you wonder if there is something else going on that we don’t know about, and White alluded to just that on Saturday night.

Anthony Smith reacts following submission win over Devin Clark, suggests Paul Craig be his next opponent

Adam D Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith said that following his tapout win over Devin Clark at UFC Vegas 15, he wants to fight Paul Craig next. Smith put on a stunning performance on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 15 as he tapped out Clark in the first round with a vicious triangle choke. For Smith, it was a badly-needed win after getting steamrolled by Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic in his last two fights. It was the kind of win that makes people remember why Smith was so highly-ranked in the first place, and although Clark was an unranked fighter, beating him so impressively should result in Smith facing a ranked foe next time out.
