MMA analyst Michael Bisping isn’t so sure Dustin Poirier accepting Colby Covington’s challenge is a good idea. When Colby Covington called Dustin Poirier out after his win over Jorge Masvidal in March, Poirier was quick to shoot down the idea. He noted that he didn’t want to give Covington the satisfaction of facing him and earning money from the inevitable trash talk that would ensue.

Tonight’s Eagle FC 47 event was headlined by a heavyweight contest featuring Junior dos Santos taking on Yorgan de Castro. Junior dos Santos (21-10 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since December of 2020, where he suffered a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane. That setback marked the former UFC heavyweight champions fourth in a row and resulted in his release from the promotion. ‘JDS’ initially signed on to fight for Triller, but ultimately wound up returning with Eagle FC.

Tonight’s Eagle FC 47 event was co-headlined by a light heavyweight bout between former UFC fighters Hector Lombard and Thiago Silva. Hector Lombard got off to a strong start in the fight. The former Bellator champion landed a good combination that appeared to stun Silva. He followed that up with a flurry of punches and Thiago went down after eating a right hand. Despite some decent ground and pound, Silva ultimately survived the early scare and the fight went to round two.

UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush doesn’t like the uncertainty at the top of 155 pounds. The 33-year-old has been out of action since a decision victory over Tony Ferguson in May 2021. He was set for a showdown with Islam Makhachev earlier this year but was forced out due to injury.

Eagle FC returns to Miami, Florida for Eagle FC 47 on Friday night. The fight card features a ton of UFC veterans as the main event sees Junior dos Santos taking on Yorgan De Castro. The card also sees the likes of Andrew Sanchez, and Hector Lombard among others competing. Junior dos Santos (21-9) has not fought since December of 2020 when he suffered a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane which marked his fourth in a row. After the loss, he was released from the UFC and initially inked a deal with Triller but a fight never came to fruition, and ended up signing with Eagle FC. On the losing skid, he suffered TKO losses to Jairiznho Rozenstruik, Curtis Blaydes, and Francis Ngannou. His last win came in March of 2019 as he TKO’d Derrick Lewis. The former UFC heavyweight champion also holds notable wins over Tai Tuivasa, Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, and Frank Mir.

Andre Petroski wasn’t surprised when he submitted Nick Maximov despite being the biggest underdog at UFC Vegas 54. Petroski asked for the fight as he knew Maximov came with a lot of hype due to the fact he was undefeated and a main training partner of the Diaz brothers. Why he wanted the fight was due to the fact he saw a lot of holes in his game and knew he could expose them.

Derek Brunson is sounding off on USADA following a failed check-in for a drug test. Brunson, (23-8 MMA) competes in the middleweight division of the UFC. His last time in the cage was at UFC 271 in February of this year, losing to Jared Cannonier (15-5 MMA) by knockout in round two. Prior to the loss, Brunson had 5 wins in a row to Darren Till, Kevin Holland, Edmen Shahbazyan, Ian Heinisch and Elias Theodorou respectively.
