While he isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea from a personality standpoint, nobody can deny that Marlon Vera – also known as ‘Chito’ – is beginning to establish himself as a real contender in the bantamweight division. He’s currently riding a three-fight win streak with his last four wins all coming against notable names in the form of Sean O’Malley, Davey Grant, Frankie Edgar and Rob Font.

The two have hinted at it, been in talks to make it happen, and have even been photographed together. It always felt like it was destined to happen but never got made, and yet, it still seems as if there’s a chance it could become reality in the year 2022.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum has announced his intentions to get into boxing. The Brazilian was last seen in action at PFL 3 in May 2021. That bout being a no-contest against Renan Ferreira that was originally labeled a knockout loss for Werdum. The bout was overturned after it was discovered his foe had tapped during a previous armbar attempt.

Regardless of retirement, it’s not likely he fights anytime soon. ‘Ragin Al’ has been out of the cage since UFC 268 in November 2021. That outing was a first-round knockout loss to Bobby Green. The stoppage was the first knockout loss of his career to date.

Luke Rockhold is hoping to share the Octagon with Israel Adesanya so he can test himself against the best. Rockhold, the former Strikeforce, and UFC middleweight champion is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 277 on July 30 against Paulo Costa. It’s his first fight since Jan Blachowicz brutally knocked him out in his light heavyweight debut. Although he has not fought since 2019, Rockhold is getting the fourth-ranked middleweight and if he wins he would be right back in the title picture.

Heading into the fight, Hooper had a ton of confidence in himself and it showed as he got a third-round TKO which he says was the best performance of his career.

Blood Diamond out of UFC 275 fight against Orion Cosce

Blood Diamond’s second UFC appearance will have to wait. Diamond was set to return at UFC 275 on June 11 in Singapore against Orion Cosce but sources tell BJPENN.com that the Zimbabwean has been forced out of the scrap. It’s uncertain if the UFC will look to rebook the fight or find a replacement for Cosce. This was also the second time the fight has been booked as the two were supposed to meet at UFC 271, but it was Cosce that had to pull out due to an injury.

Mike Winkeljohn was shocked when he heard Ketlen Vieira being announced as the winner in her UFC Vegas 55 main event fight against Holly Holm. Winkeljohn, a coach of Holm, was confident his pupil had won the fight when the final bell rang. It was a close competitive fight, but Holm had nearly double the significant strikes of Vieira and had almost nine more minutes of control so, for Winkeljohn, he doesn’t know how Vieira got her hand raised.
