The Octagon remains in Nevada for Saturday’s UFC Vegas 70 event, a now twelve-bout fight card headlined by Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann. It was to be a thirteen-bout fight card, but the preliminary bout between Jose Johnson and Garret Armfield was scrapped due to medical issues.

Surging women’s flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield picked up the biggest win of her UFC career last Saturday when she submitted Jessica Andrade. Blanchfield (11-1 MMA) was returning to the Octagon for the first time since scoring an impressive first-round submission win over Molly McCann at November’s UFC 281 event. That victory had improved Blanchfield’s win streak to seven in a row, with four of those wins coming under the UFC banner.

Ryan Spann is set to headline UFC Vegas 70 against Nikita Krylov on Saturday but that was not always the plan. According to Spann, after he knocked out Dominick Reyes at UFC 281 in November, he was offered to fight Jan Blachowicz. However, when Jiri Prochazka got hurt and vacated the belt, the UFC was forced to make some big changes to the division, which included Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev for the vacant belt.

It’s a fight both men have wanted and after it was booked twice previously but both times Fury pulled out but it will finally happen on Sunday.

Jon Jones has a reason as to why the Francis Ngannou fight didn’t happen. Ever since Ngannou became the heavyweight champ and Jones announced he was moving up to heavyweight, the hope was the fight would happen. But, after contract negotiations stalled, Ngannou was released from his deal and instead, Jones will now face Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 for the vacant belt.

In his first bout in over three years, Jones will be making the jump to heavyweight to face Ciryl Gane. The two will battle for the vacant heavyweight championship, left inactive after Francis Ngannou left the promotion last month.

Daniel Cormier is explaining why he is against an immediate rematch between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski. It was indeed lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (24-1 MMA) vs featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski (25-2 MMA) at UFC 284 earlier this month. The super fight saw Makhachev defeat ‘The Great’ via unanimous decision, in his first title defence. Volkanovski fell short in his quest to become a two division champion, but held on to his No. 1 spot in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

Sean Strickland is trolling BKFC for signing Paige VanZant as their marguee fighter. Paige ’12 Gauge’ VanZant (8-5 MMA) left the UFC after her bout with Amanda Ribas (10-3 MMA) at UFC 251 in July of 2020. It was there that VanZant lost via submission in round one, making her record 2-4 in her last six bouts.

James, who has acted in shows like The King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond while also being in movies like Paul Blart Mall Cop, Grown Ups, and Here Comes The Boom, was training in a gym when Dvalishvili started to work with him. James says he tagged in, when everyone in the gym knew he was an actor but Dvalishvili just assumed James was a heavyweight fighter.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier has answered Islam Makhachev’s call. The Russian returned to the octagon earlier this month in the main event of UFC 284. Standing opposite the newly crowned champion was fellow titleholder Alexander Volkanovski. Despite Makhachev entering the fight a massive favorite, ‘The Great’ held his own for five rounds.

Tyron Woodley believes YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI never truly wanted to box him but was using his name for clout. After Woodley lost back-to-back fights to Jake Paul, Paul mentioned Woodley as a possible opponent for his rival, KSI. The two sides then began negotiating a deal and Woodley says he signed a deal to box KSI but the YouTuber declined and decided to fight Dillon Danis instead.
