UFC 242 promises to be an action-packed event full of anticipated match ups. That includes a rematch between long-time lightweight contenders Paul Felder and Edson Barboza. The lightweight fighters first touched gloves in 2015 at UFC on FOX 16 in Chicago, Illinois. They went three rounds, and Barboza ended up securing victory by unanimous decision. It was the first loss of Felder’s career.
Ben Askren vs. Demian Maia set as UFC Singapore main event

A battle between two of the most skilled grapplers in the UFC welterweight division is set to headline the UFC’s return to Singapore this fall, when Ben Askren takes on Demian Maia. Askren vs. Maia will headline UFC Singapore, which takes place October 26 at Singapore Indoor Arena in Kallang, Singapore. UFC president Dana White confirmed the fight with reporters at a post-fight scrum following the Contender Series.

Henry Cejudo raised eyebrows last week when he challenged women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko to an “inter-gender” bout. UFC welterweight contender Michael Chiesa is stepping it up a notch by calling for a Brock Lesnar vs Gabi Garcia matchup. Valentina Shevchenko successfully defended her flyweight title at UFC Uruguay when she went five rounds against Liz Carmouche. She beat Carmouche to a unanimous decision victory, avenging her loss from their first fight in 2010. After the fight, Cejudo took the limelight back by challenging Shevchenko to the first inter-gender fight.

Not long ago, former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo hinted at an imminent weight class change. Contrary to his previous comments, however, he’s not floating a move to lightweight. Instead, he wants to drop to bantamweight and challenge the reigning champion Henry Cejudo for gold in that division. “I sat down with everybody, did a study, and I think there’s a real possibility I can make 61kg [135 pounds],” Aldo told Brazilian website Combate (via MMAFighting). “This is the new division I want to move to, and I’m asking for the title shot right away. That’s what matters for me now. Cejudo said he’s open to (fighting) anyone, so I’m open to that. I want the opportunity to fight against him and beat him.”

Negotiations for fights are “super necessary,” and Jorge Masvidal claims talks are underway for a bout with Nate Diaz. If ring rust truly exists, Diaz is immune. He stepped inside the Octagon for the first time since Aug. 2016 in the co-main event of UFC 241. Diaz took on Anthony Pettis in a bout that went the distance. The Stockton native simply overwhelmed Pettis in the second and third rounds to take a unanimous decision victory.

Ronda Rousey has competed in the Octagon, taken crazy bumps in a WWE ring, but she may have suffered her most gruesome injury yet last week while filming a television show in Mexico. According to a report from TMZ, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion was filming for the “9-1-1” TV show, where she plays a Los Angeles fire fighter. She was shooting a scene where she supposed to slam a door.

UFC 241’s main event saw the former heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic rematch Daniel Cormier and reclaim the heavyweight belt. Many heavyweight fighters will now be pushing for the next title shot against the Croatian-American champion and that includes heavy hitter, Francis Ngannou. During an episode on the Ariel Helwani podcast on Monday, the Cameroonian-French fighter revealed he is itching for a rematch against Miocic.

UFC president Dana White appears to be open to Jose Aldo possibly moving down a weight class. Not long ago, the clock was ticking on Aldo’s mixed martial arts career. The man who once ruled the roost at featherweight was planning to retire from MMA competition at the end of 2019. Aldo even considered transitioning to boxing. Those plans changed as Aldo signed a long-term deal with the UFC back in June.

Nate Diaz returned to the Octagon at UFC 241 and successfully beat Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision. After the fight, he called for a fight against Jorge Masvidal, but he also wants George St-Pierre to fight his brother, Nick Diaz. The former two-division UFC champion St-Pierre retired earlier this year but hasn’t fought since his 2017 win over Michael Bisping at UFC 217. The Canadian fought Nate’s brother Nick at UFC 158 in 2013. Despite the fact that St-Pierre won via dominant unanimous decision, the younger Diaz brother wants to see a rematch.

Dan Hardy says he has re-entered USADA pool, wants possibly one more fight
