UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington claims the UFC was planning on releasing him before he cut his famous ‘filthy animals’ promo in Brazil. In October 2017, Covington fought Demian Maia in Sao Paulo, Brazil in what was the biggest fight of his career at the time. Covington defeated Maia via decision that night and then went on a verbal tirade during his post-fight interview, calling Brazilians “filthy animals” and saying the country was “a dump.”

TJ Dillashaw shows bulked up physique as he continues MMA training

TJ Dillashaw appears to have put on some serious muscle mass as showcased in a recent Instagram snap. The former two-time bantamweight champion hasn’t fought since January 2019, when he was defeated at the hands of Henry Cejudo in a flyweight bout. The current champion finished him with a shocking 32 second TKO in the first round. In April, Dillashaw was handed a two-year suspension after it was revealed he tested positive for EPO use. As a result, he was stripped of his bantamweight title and has been out of action ever since.

Ben Askren fires back after Mike Perry calls him a “bum”

Former UFC welterweight contender Ben Askren fired back at Mike Perry after “Platinum” called “Funky” a bum, suggesting Perry will one day be homeless. Perry was recently a guest on UFC Unfiltered and called Askren a “bum” while criticizing his performances inside the Octagon. Askren went 1-2 with the UFC with a controversial technical submission win over Robbie Lawler and stoppage losses to Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia before calling it quits and retiring from the sport.

Michael Page booked to return at Bellator Japan

Bellator welterweight star Michael Page has been booked to take on Shinsho Anzai at the promotion’s New Year’s Eve event in Japan. Bellator officially announced this weekend that Page vs. Anzai will take place at Bellator & Rizin: Japan, set for Saturday, December 28 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The fight will take place at a catchweight of 173lbs.

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem had successful plastic surgery to fix a torn lip suffered during his devastating KO loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the main event of UFC Washington, D.C. Overeem was up ahead on all three judges scorecards and was cruising towards a unanimous decision victory before Rozenstruik landed a giant punch that knocked “The Reem” out. The punch also ripped apart Overeem’s lip in the process, and the photo of the torn lip went viral over social media late on Saturday night.

Cody Stamann says judges did him wrong, wants UFC to make things right

UFC bantamweight contender Cody Stamann believes the judges did him wrong at UFC Washington, D.C. and now he wants the UFC to make things right. Stamann and Song Yadong fought to a controversial majority draw, with the judges scoring the bout 29-27 Stamann, 28-28 and 28-28. Those score tallies include a one-point deduction to Yadong in the first round for an illegal knee, meaning Stamann would have actually lost a split decision had referee Kevin Mulhall not taken that point away. Instead, he ended up with a draw, though many observers felt Stamann did enough to win.

UFC bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen was given a rough go this week when his opponent Frankie Edgar was booked for a fight against Chan Sung Jung at UFC South Korea. The No. 3-ranked bantamweight on the UFC roster, Sandhagen is scheduled to fight Edgar at UFC Raleigh in January. However, when Brian Ortega announced he was injured and forced to pull out of his fight against Jung, the UFC called upon Edgar to fill the void. That leaves Sandhagen in a tough predicament of not knowing what’s next for him.
