Donald Cerrone is a fan favorite for a number of reasons, one of which is because he likes to give the folks their money’s worth. “Cowboy” plans to do exactly that when he faces the returning Conor McGregor next month. Cerrone and McGregor will meet in the 170-pound main event of UFC 246. The event takes place Jan. 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It’s no secret that UFC president Dana White and Mayweather, the boxing legend, are in cahoots and working on some sort of agreement for his comeback fight. Mayweather recently revealed that he is returning to the boxing ring after a short-lived retirement, but so far we haven’t heard who his opponent could be, only that his next fight will likely come under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

According to the former Olympic wrestler, it was his own choice to relinquish the belt.

Alistair Overeem was moments away from a clear-cut unanimous decision win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik when disaster struck. With mere seconds left on the clock, he was dropped by a Rozenstruik punch, which also tore his lip open. Rozenstruik walked off, and the fight was promptly waved off by the referee. As far as Overeem is concerned, though, the fight should not have been stopped. Though his lip was badly damaged, he was still concious.

It was the biggest fight of his career, and the perfect opportunity to make a statement. Ultimately, that is what Yan did. The card will be topped by a featherweight fight between local hero “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The Korean Zombie was originally expected to battle Brian Ortega on the card, but when Ortega sustained an injury in training, Edgar stepped into replace him.

Alistair Overeem’s gruesome lip injury is a thing of the past, as images have surfaced of the heavyweight’s miraculously healed mouth. Overeem suffered the ghastly battle wound at the hands of Jairzinho Rozenstruik in their UFC on ESPN 7 bout. Overeem was leading the fight, but that all changed in the final seconds of round five. Rozenstruik uncorked a fight-finishing punch that obliterated his opponent’s lips and sealed him the TKO victory.

The UFC is back to business in Busan, South Korea on Saturday with the anticipated UFC Busan card. UFC Busan will be headlined by a featherweight fight between Korean legend “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Frankie Edgar. The Korean Zombie was originally expected to fight Brian Ortega. However, the 28-year old suffered a partially torn ACL during a sparring session. He is still eyeing a fight against Sung Jung in early 2020 but he had to pull out, leaving Frankie Edgar to step up as a last-minute replacement.

UFC ‘BMF’ champion and top welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal has plenty of options for his next opponent when the time comes, but his sights are set on a certain upcoming fight. While there had been rumors of a potential fight with Nick Diaz or current reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, Masvidal mentioned on Thursday the possibility of a different opponent. During an interview on “The Ak & Barak Show” on Sirius XM, “Gamebred” was asked when he would be returning to the Octagon and his answer was that he’s in wait-and-see mode depending on the main event of UFC 246 between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone.
Sergio Moraes among 11 fighters cut by the UFC

The UFC has cut 11 more fighters from its roster, including popular Brazilian welterweight Sergio Moraes, in the latest attempt to trim its list of talent. The UFC last month cut 12 fighters from its roster, including highly-regarded welterweight Curtis Millender, and the purge continues today with the announcement that 11 more have been purged from the roster.
