PETA has hit back at UFC 246 headliners Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone following their comments at the UFC 246 press conference earlier this week. PETA, known officially as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has been around since 1980 and during that time they’ve been perceived to have done a lot of good – but alongside that, an awful lot of bad, too.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that Conor McGregor will get the next lightweight title shot should he defeat Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 this weekend. The UFC lightweight title is on the line in April when champion Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on challenger Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. According to White now, McGregor will fight the winner of that contest should he defeat Cerrone, a decision that is sure to draw the ire of fans and media who don’t believe McGregor should be in the title picture ahead of Justin Gaethje.

On Saturday night, the UFC will return to our screens with stacked UFC 246 card. The main card, which will air on pay-per-view, will be topped by a welterweight scrap between former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor and record-collecting finisher Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Big pay-per-view cards like UFC 246 are usually opened up by special introductory videos highlighting the stars of the event. Ordinarily, these videos are not available until fight night, but UFC President Dana White is so excited about the video for the UFC 246 main card that he decided to leak it early.

McGregor did not come into the press conference with a ton of trash talk or animosity towards Cerrone, instead he chose to pay respect to his upcoming opponent and credit him for becoming a family man and his activity inside the Octagon. This version of McGregor’s persona has caught the attention of many, including former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate.

There have recently been talks of a potential fight between boxing world champion Claressa Shields and reigning UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes, and White isn’t hiding his plans for a fight between the two. When asked for an update on a potential fight between Nunes and Shields, White told Bronsteter that it’s not hard to figure out what’s going on between all parties involved and he believes the best opponent for each fighter is the other.
