Marlon Vera vs. Cory Sandhagen moves to headline UFC San Antonio

Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen will not be fighting in two weeks. Vera and Sandhagen were supposed to headline a Fight Night card on February 18 at the UFC Apex. However, the promotion has shifted plans as according to Sports Illustrated, Vera vs. Sandhagen will now headline UFC San Antonio on March 25.

It will be Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera (20-7 MMA) vs Cory ‘Sandman‘ Sandhagen (15-4 MMA) in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 219 which takes place on Saturday, February 18th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Vera took to the Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith to claim that several fighters in the UFC were still taking steroids and cheating the system to gain an unfair advantage. Despite USADA testing fighters routinely, Bisping and Smith both agreed the issue still exists.

Marlon “Chito” Vera was in attendance for Cory Sandhagen’s victory over Song Yadong at UFC Vegas 60 and he has responded to a callout. Sandhagen and Yadong went one-on-one inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 17. A slicing elbow through the eyebrow of Yadong caused a nasty cut that would eventually decide the fight before the fifth round could begin. The doctor called the fight off after observing the cut, and Sandhagen was awarded the fourth-round TKO.
