UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje blasted “quitter” Charles Oliveira ahead of the Dustin Poirier title fight at UFC 269. Oliveira knocked out Michael Chandler at UFC 262 to become the new UFC lightweight champion, and he will put his belt on the line against Poirier at UFC 269 in December. Gaethje has been critical of Oliveira since he won the belt, as he didn’t believe that Michael Chandler should have been the one fighting for the vacant belt. With Gaethje now fighting Chandler at UFC 268, a win there could very well earn him a title shot against the winner of the Oliveira vs. Poirier fight. And if you ask Gaethje, that will be Poirier getting the win.

Charles Oliveira expects to hear ‘And Still’ on December 11 at UFC 269. Oliveira is expected to defend his lightweight title for the first time when he battles Dustin Poirier. According to Oliveira, he has not signed a contract but he is preparing to fight in December.

The undisputed UFC lightweight title will be on the line this winter when champion Charles Oliveira defends his belt against Dustin Poirier. MMAFighting.com was the first to report that Poirier vs. Chandler was in the works for UFC 269, which is set to take place on December 11. Both sides have verbally agreed to the title fight, according to the report. UFC 269 also features UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes putting her belt on the line against top contender Julianna Pena. With the addition of these two title fights, UFC 269 is starting to look like a great card.

Nate Diaz has taken shots at Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier, and Conor McGregor on social media on Tuesday. Diaz took to Twitter and blasted Nurmagomedov and Poirier for being scared to fight him. Of course, he and Poirier were supposed to fight at UFC 230, but the fight never came to fruition, and both men claim the other pulled off the bout first.

Since then he’s gone on to finish Dan Hooker before almost doing the same to Charles Oliveira, only to ultimately lose via strikes early in the second round.

Dustin Poirier believes Max Holloway is the most skilled opponent he has ever beat. Poirier and Holloway first met at UFC 143 which was Holloway’s UFC debut. Poirier ended up winning by first-round submission but they then rematched in 2019 at UFC 236 for the interim lightweight title. Holloway was the reigning featherweight champ and Poirier was a top contender and it was “The Diamond” who won a decision.

Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler via second-round KO back at UFC 262 in May to win the vacant UFC lightweight title. Next in line to face “Do Bronx” appears to be the No. 1 lightweight contender in Poirier, but “The Diamond” seems to be more interested in a money fight against Nate Diaz at this time rather than stepping into the cage with Oliveira.

Poirier is one of the best lightweights in the world, while Covington has established himself as a welterweight contender, so a fight on paper doesn’t seem like one that would happen anytime soon. But “The Diamond” has mentioned in the past that he would be interested in moving up to 170lbs, and if that’s the case, then Covington would welcome it.

However, “The Diamond” has recently been going back-and-forth with Diaz on social media, leading to speculation that he could be pursuing a fight with the Stockton native instead. However, if you ask Bisping, Poirier would be making a mistake if he chooses to fight Diaz next instead.

The Irishman had a pair of memorable fights with Diaz in 2016, where he went 1-1 in the pair of bouts, while “Notorious” ended up losing 2-1 overall to Poirier during their own trilogy. In the last fight against Poirier at UFCC 264, McGregor broke his leg, and he’s expected to be out for the next year while he heals up his wounds. During his time off, McGregor has spent much of it on social media trolling several other fighters including Poirier, Diaz, and Daniel Cormier. But according to McGregor, he’s having more fun watching Diaz troll Poirier.
