Over three decades of the UFC’s rise to prominence, longtime Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer is one of the longest-tenured personalities on UFC broadcasts. He made his announcing debut in 1996 at UFC 8, and is known for his own signature ‘Buffer 180’ move while setting the scene for marquee bouts.

He is an ever-present member of the roster and whenever he yells out “it’s time”, you know that a major main event is about to take place.

However, he has some experience in high school wrestling. He has also competed in boxing quite extensively, most notably going eight rounds in a 2021 exhibition with undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. He also dominated BJJ specialist Dillon Danis in a 2023 exhibition, ultimately winning by disqualification due to his opponent’s unsportsmanlike conduct. While that’s the extent of his combat sports experience, he is also one of the biggest stars on the WWE roster right now.

He took on Victor Petrino in a light heavyweight battle. “Lionheart” showed the MMA world that he still has some juice left in the tank, scoring a first-round submission finish via guillotine choke. It was a nice bounce back win for Smith, who suffered a third-round TKO loss to Khalil Rountree back in late 2023.
