Bruce Buffer wants Conor McGregor vs. Georges St-Pierre 'mega fight'

“The Veteran Voice of the Octagon” Bruce Buffer is fantasizing about a Conor McGregor vs. Georges St-Pierre fight — even if he thinks it’s just a pipe dream. Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since his historic loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. He vacated the Octagon after tapping out in the fourth round and hasn’t returned since. He is, however, in frequent communication with Dana White and is looking to return for the right opportunity. Buffer believes that McGregor needs to earn his spot in the rankings again.

In the first bout of the stacked UFC 235 main card last Saturday, former UFC bantamweight king Cody Garbrandt stepped into the Octagon with dangerous Brazilian contender Pedro Munhoz. The goal for the fighter they call “No Love” was to rebound from a pair of knockout losses to reigning champion TJ Dillashaw. Unfortunately for the former champ and his throngs of dedicated supporters, things did not go the way he planned. Mid-way through the first round, Garbrandt found himself rattled by an inadvertent head butt, and in a dazed frenzy, abandoned strategy in favor of a wild slug fest. The two bantamweights began strafing each other with massive punches — many of which landed — until Garbrandt was face-down on the canvas.

Over the weekend, UFC Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer made some comments about lightweight contender Nate Diaz. Buffer explained that, in his opinion, Nate Diaz’s bellicose attitude toward the UFC is unwarranted. In fact, he said that he felt that Diaz should “bowing” to UFC President Dana White. “Nate, I heard you made 7 or more million dollars in your last fight,” Buffer told TMZ. “I don’t want to hear you complaining about being under promoted by the UFC. One of the latest to do so was Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer, who went off on the Irishman in an airport interview with TMZ. “As a whole everybody’s got their own personal reaction, but I think it’s total disgust.” Buffer told TMZ Sports (transcribed by Sherdog.com). “I could say a lot of words personally, but we’ll see how it all pans out. Thursday afternoon during UFC Fight Week, Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer hurt his knee while partaking in a lip sync battle. Buffer, noticeably in pain over the injury, continued to perform until his knee locked up on him and he took a painful tumble to the ground. Buffer was then spotted later that night at the ‘UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez’ event limping around on the knee. Despite that, the voice of the Octagon managed to make it into the Octagon to announce all the bouts.
