He will go head to head with Diego Lopes, attempting to build off of his tremendous win over Yair Rodriguez earlier this year.

UFC featherweight contender Diego Lopes believes that he will fight for gold with a win over Brian Ortega. The Brazilian is currently one of the fastest-rising stars in the entire UFC. Diego Lopes signed with the company in 2023, suffering a short-notice loss to Movsar Evloev. Since then, the 29-year-old has racked up three straight stoppage wins, last knocking out Sodiq Yusuff at UFC 300 in April. That win has earned him a shot at one of the division’s biggest stars.

He then had had a shaky opening round, which saw his nose get busted up by Yair. Ortega was able to settled down and secured an arm triangle choke to force the submission in the third round.

Brian Ortega has responded to Ilia Topuria’s claim that he won’t give him a title shot if he defeats Alex Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Topuria will be challenging Volkanovski for the 145-pound gold in the main event of UFC 298 this Saturday night. Topuria has been rather brash in the buildup for this title fight. He has already declared himself as the true UFC featherweight champion. He even said he wouldn’t give, Ortega, Max Holloway, or Yair Rodriguez a title opportunity.

Brian Ortega has had a long road to return from the injury he sustained in his UFC Long Island main event fight in July of 2022 against Yair Rodriguez. Ortega was taking on Rodriguez in a pivotal matchup for the featherweight division as the winner was expected to get a title shot. In the first round, however, ‘T-City’ dislocated his shoulder and the fight was stopped. Since then, Ortega has dealt with a couple more injuries as he revealed he’s had multiple surgeries during the time off, and not just on his shoulder.

Ige shared the Octagon with Andre Fili in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas on February 10. One solid punch to the jaw, and Fili was done. Ige landed one more punch on a floored Fili to seal the deal. “50K” lived up to his nickname, snagging a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

The two men first met back in summer 2022, and on that occasion, Rodriguez was the man who had his hand raised. He did so after Ortega sustained a shoulder injury during a grappling exchange.
