UFC London might need a new main event as Alexander Volkov may not be allowed to compete in England. Volkov is currently scheduled to face Tom Aspinall in the main event of UFC London. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine could put a stop to that plan.

Tom Aspinall will be headlining UFC London but it won’t be against his original opponent. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Aspinall was originally supposed to fight Shamil Abdurakhimov. However, Shamil was pulled from the fight and the Brit will now face Alexander Volkov instead.

UFC heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov reacted following his unanimous decision win over Marcin Tybura on the main card of UFC 267. Volkov entered this fight as the No. 5 ranked heavyweight in the UFC, so he was defending his ranking against the No. 8 ranked Tybura in this fight. Although Volkov did not get the finish in this fight, he still did what he needed to do to get the decision victory. After winning the first round, Tybura battled back in the second to get back into the fight, but then Volkov won the third round to lock up the unanimous decision victory regardless.

When Marcin Tybura found out he would be fighting Alexander Volkov on the same card as Jan Blachowicz was defending his belt, he made a call to his old friend so the two could train with one another. Tybura and Blachowicz trained together years ago but the two went their separate ways but have always stayed in contact. Now, as both men have massive fights at UFC 267, the two sparred a couple of times which Tybura says was a good look for him.

Top-ranked UFC heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane issued a statement following his wide decision win over Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 30. Gane won a decision after outstriking Volkov over the course of 25 minutes in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 30 card. For Gane, it was yet another win in MMA as he improved to 9-0 as a pro including a perfect 6-0 mark in the Octagon alone. It was another fantastic performance for Gane, and he’s hoping that he fights for the belt next, which is currently held by his former training partner, UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Although the striking statistics saw Gane officially only outland Volkov 135 to 115 in significant strikes, the Frenchman won a very wide decision on the judges’ scorecards, with the three cage-side judges scoring the bout 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46 in favor of Gane.

UFC heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov explained why he was starstruck being in the Octagon across from Alistair Overeem at UFC Vegas 18. Volkov picked up the biggest win of his career when he finished Overeem with punches in the second rounds of their recent main event heavyweight bout. Volkov showed technical striking skills and a heavy hand as he systematically picked apart Overeem with his powerful punches until the referee stopped the fight. Considering how awesome of a performance he had, you’d be surprised to know that Volkov admits he was initially starstruck. For a fighter who had such a long road to the UFC, Volkov can now look back at his career and be proud of it.

UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem issued a statement following his TKO loss on Saturday night to Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 18. Overeem suffered a brutal second-round TKO defeat at the hands of Volkov, who had arguably the best performance of his career to date as he systematically decimated Overeem with pin-point accurate striking and unbelievable power. For Overeem, this loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for the veteran, and it puts into question whether or not “one final run” at the UFC heavyweight title is even possible at this point. Had Overeem won this fight, another run for the belt would have been realistic. But after suffering such a brutal loss at age 40, you have to wonder about his future.

UFC heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov released a statement following his TKO win over Alistair Overeem in the main event of UFC Vegas 18. Volkov put on a striking clinic on Saturday night as he was able to utilize technical striking to break the guard of Overeem and eventually put him away with punches in the second round. It was an incredible victory by Volkov, who should move into the top-five in the UFC heavyweight division with the win. Following the fight, the Russian took to his social media to release a statement. Check out what he wrote on his Instagram below in a post where he praised Overeem, a fighter he has looked up to.
