Giga Chikadze has been forced out of his UFC 296 fight against Josh Emmett. Emmett took to social media on Monday evening to reveal that Chikadze is out of their fight next weekend at UFC 296. He also confirmed he wants to remain on the card and is hopeful to get a replacement opponent.

Alex Caceres suffered a broken arm in the first round of his fight with Giga Chikadze at today’s UFC Singapore event. Caceres (21-14 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since scoring a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Pineda back in June of this year. That win had marked ‘Bruce Leeroy’s’ second in a row, as he had previously earned a first-round TKO victory over Julian Erosa in December of 2022.

Giga Chikadze doesn’t believe that Alex Caceres will try to strike with him when they collide at UFC Singapore. After more than 18 months away, Giga Chikadze will return to the Octagon this weekend. He’ll do so when he collides with veteran Alex Caceres, as he attempts to get back into the win column following a long lay-off. That time away largely came as a result of his battle with Calvin Kattar, in which he was emphatically beaten by unanimous decision in January 2022.

Giga Chikadze believes he is a better fighter than Calvin Kattar. In the main event of UFC Vegas 46, Kattar pitched a shutout as he beat Chikadze by decision and won all five rounds. It was a solid performance from Kattar and after the fight, the Georgian went on Facebook Live and reflected on the fight. According to Chikadze, he believes he would beat Kattar 9 times out of 10.

The first card of 2022 went down on Saturday as top-10 featherweights in Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze headlined UFC Vegas 46. Kattar entered the fight having taken a full year off after his beatdown loss to Max Holloway last January, a setback which snapped his two-fight winning streak. Chikadze, meanwhile, was undefeated in the UFC and coming off a TKO win over Edson Barboza in his first UFC main event. He also picked up a TKO win over Cub Swanson in 2021 which put him on the map as a legit featherweight contender.

Chikadze has been pushing for a big-name opponent, and he was calling out the likes of UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and former champ Max Holloway. Giga Chikadze met with UFC president Dana White and he called for the next featherweight title shot against Alexander Volkanovski. Chikadze has won seven straight fights in the Octagon and most recently defeated Edson Barboza via knockout to emerge as a serious title threat at 145lbs. This past Saturday night, Volkanovski defended his 145lbs title once again with a unanimous decision win over Brian Ortega in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 266. While Volkanovski is fully expected to face the winner of November’s Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez for the belt sometime next year, Chikadze is doing his best to complicate things by calling for the title shot himself.
