Tonight’s BKFC 41 event was co-headlined by a highly anticipated fight between Eddie Alvarez and Chad Mendes. Alvarez (30-8 and two No Contests MMA, 1-0 BKFC) was returning to action for the first time since April of 2021, where he had suffered a loss to Ok Rae Yoon at ONE on TNT 4. The Philadelphia native later asked for and was granted his release from ONE Championship. Eddie’s most recent win had come back in 2019, when he defeated Eduard Folayang by first-round submission.

Mike Perry will square off with former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at BKFC 41 on April 29. BKFC president David Feldman went on The MMA Hour and announced that his promotion has signed former UFC champion Luke Rockhold to fight Mike Perry at 185lbs in the main event. The co-main event sees Chad Mendes take on former UFC lightweight champ, Eddie Alvarez at 165lbs. The fight card is set to go down on April 29 in Denver, Colorado.

Chad Mendes made his BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) debut last weekend, February 19, 2022. Mendes scored a knockout win over Joshuah Alvarez in a fight that lasted four rounds. Mendes is still under contract with the UFC but got permission to compete in the BKFC bout. ‘Money’ last fought in the featherweight division at UFC 232 back in December of 2018. That fight resulted in a loss by KO to Alexander Volkanovski.

Mendes (18-5 MMA) has not competed in combat sports since suffering a TKO loss to Alex Volkanovski at UFC 232 in December of 2018. During his fourteen-fight UFC career, Chad Mendes accumulated a record of 9-5 which included stoppage wins over Myles Jury, Ricardo Lamas, Clay Guida, Darren Elkins and Cody McKenzie.

Former UFC featherweight title contender Chad Mendes revealed that his former organization gave him permission to make a comeback in BKFC. Mendes recently signed a contract with BKFC to make his return to combat sports in bare-knuckle boxing. Now 36 years old, Mendes hasn’t competed in MMA since December 2018 when he was knocked out by current UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Mendes struggled on his way out of the UFC, losing three of his last four bouts, but to be fair to him, those losses came against Volkanovski, Conor McGregor, and Frankie Edgar.
