Paul knocked out Ben Askren in devastating fashion on Saturday night during a highly-anticipated boxing event promoted by the Triller app. Paul landed a monster right hand just a minute into the fight and the referee waved off the fight after Askren’s legs went wobbly. It was a solid performance by Paul, to be sure, and it’s the kind of big-name win that should set him up with another big name in his next outing. Paul dropped Askren with a massive right hand in the first round. After giving Askren time to compose himself, the referee waved the fight off as Askren’s legs were wobbly under him, handing Paul the first-round TKO victory. Following the fight, Paul opened up about the stoppage in the match. He believes that the referee saved Askren the embarrassment of being knocked out in an even more devastating fashion because he stopped the fight.

After talking a big game in the lead-up to the fight, Askren suffered a first-round knockout loss on Saturday night after Paul landed a massive right hand that floored “Funky.” The referee would not let Askren continue in the fight and stopped it, giving Paul the first-round victory. Following the event, Askren spoke to the media and opened up on the loss. When asked if he felt like he let the MMA community down, Askren took it a step further, suggesting that he actually let the entire world down by not finding a way to beat Paul.

After months of anticipation, Paul and Askren meet this weekend in a huge boxing match. The paydays were released on Friday, with Askren set to take home at least $500,000 for this fight and Paul set to take home a minimum of $690,000. Later in the day, the two fighters made weight, with Paul coming in at 191.5lbs and Askren weighing in at 190lbs. After both fighters made weight, they had their final staredown before Saturday’s fight.
Evander Holyfield returns to boxing in June for Triller Fight Club

Boxing legend Evander Holyfield will return to the ring on June 5 when he takes on Kevin McBride in a Triller Fight Club boxing match. Triller announced the Holyfield vs. McBride will face off at a pay-per-view event set for June 5 at a location and venue that has yet to be disclosed. Both Holyfield and McBride have not stepped into the squared circle since 2011, so both men will be returning after decade-long layoffs when they go at each other in June. Also on the card is a matchup between boxing superstar Teófimo López and George Kambosos Jr. Triller announced the fights in a joint press release on Friday from Holyfield and from Triller promoter Ryan Kavanaugh. It’s worth noting that the Holyfield vs. McBride fight will be scheduled for six rounds.

Triller Fight Club is promoting another huge event for this Saturday, one that features Askren and Paul in the main event in a boxing grudge match. We knew they were both about to make some serious coin for the fight, and now we have the disclosed salaries. According to MMAFighting.com, Askren is guaranteed a purse of $500,000, while Paul is getting at least $690,000 for this fight. And that’s just the guaranteed portion, as they will both likely be in line for pay-per-view bonus points depending on how well the show does.

However, according to the brash YouTuber, in the contract, if Askren does any MMA tactics in the fight, his entire purse would be forfeited.
