During the broadcast of last weekend’s BKFC 9 card, it was announced that the “Iranian Hulk” Sajad Gharibi has joined the bare knuckle promotion’s roster. Gharibi, who allegedly weighs almost 400lbs, is expected to make his debut in 2020.

A native of Iran, the 27-year-old Iranian Hulk is a hardcore bodybuilder who has become popular through his viral photos on social media exhibiting his incredible and almost comic-like physique. He has no combat sports experience but he has said in the past he would like to get into fighting. BKFC evidently saw an opportunity with him and went out and signed the viral star.

He also recently signed former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi, who stepped into the BKFC ring for a fight against Artem Lobov. Feldman believes it’s crucial to BKFC’s continued success to sign these kinds of big-name fighters — fighters like Wanderlei Silva and Hector Lombard, who recently signed on the dotted line. Luckily, Feldman says fighters are now coming to him and wanting to sign with BKFC, which makes his job much easier.

The main event of BKFC 8 didn’t last long as former UFC heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga knocked out fellow MMA veteran Antonio Silva. Gonzaga and Silva were scheduled for five rounds of action, but Gonzaga needed just two rounds to finish Silva. The win was Gonzaga’s first in BKFC. Although he’s 40-years-old, the Brazilian MMA legend still possesses a ton of knockout power and showed that against Silva in this fight. It was Gonzaga’s first victory in bare-knuckle fighting.

Former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi made his way into the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) ring earlier this year. There, he took on former UFC fighter, Artem Lobov in the main event of BKFC 6. The fight was set to end the rivalry between the two. The two camps have not gotten along since the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight, when Malignaggi briefly worked as one of the Irishman’s training partners.
