ONE Championship heavyweight contender Arjan Bhullar has known former UFC heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier for more than 15 years. He’s trained with Cormier at American Kickboxing Academy for many of those years. Based on that, watching Cormier lose the UFC heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 was not easy for him. That being said, Bhullar is still proud of his friend’s performance.

Max Holloway and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been close to sharing the Octagon two times already. Yet, both times it never came to fruition. At UFC 223, Holloway was stepping up on short notice to take on the undefeated Dagestani lightweight champion. However, on fight week he was pulled by the New York State Athletic Commission. Then, at UFC 236, all he needed to do was beat Dustin Poirier to get the shot at Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately, he lost by decision.

Top-ranked light heavyweight contender Thiago Santos says that he wants a rematch with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones when he returns to the Octagon in 2020. He says a tune-up fight is not necessary. Santos spoke to Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com and said that he desires a rematch with Jones, who edged out a controversial split decision victory at UFC 239 this past July to defend his belt. Many felt that Santos should have got the nod, and he badly wants the rematch to prove he’s the super fighter.

This weekend’s UFC Tampa card was supposed to be headlined by a strawweight showdown between top-ranked contenders Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson. Regrettably, it sounds as though this fight could be done for. According to Raphael Marinho of Brazilian publication Combate, Jedrzejczyk will not make the strawweight’s 116-pound limit for the fight. Waterson, in turn, has reportedly refused to accept a fight with Jedrzejczyk if she is unable to make the contracted weight.
