UFC president Dana White says that potentially having retirement talks with Diego Sanchez and Donald Cerrone is the “not-so-fun part of the job.” White has been open about having a conversation with the 37-year-old Cerrone about retirement after the long-time contender’s five-fight winless skid. Another fighter who White will soon have a tough talk with is Sanchez. The original “Ultimate Fighter” winner, Sanchez has been on the UFC roster for over 15 years. But at age 38, Sanchez has been struggling lately, most recently losing a decision to Jake Matthews at UFC 253.

But before getting the chance to do the rematch, Jones retired, which led to Reyes getting booked against Blachowicz for the vacant belt instead. Adesanya and Costa spent months talking smack to each other on social media and in interviews, so it’s no surprise that months of pent-up frustration were unleashed in the cage on Saturday night in Fight Island. Most of that aggression was from Adesanya, who had one of his best UFC performances to date in the fight. He picked apart Costa with low kicks from the outside before finishing him with punches from the inside.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Jared Cannonier will be next for Israel Adesanya as long as he beats Robert Whittaker at UFC 254. Immediately after Adesanya knocked out Paulo Costa in the main event of UFC 253, the question jumped to who should be next for the champ. If you look at the rankings, the highest-ranked fighter who has yet to get his crack at the belt is Cannonier. The former heavyweight and light heavyweight looks to make it four straight wins when he takes on Whittaker at UFC 254 next month in a fight that is a title eliminator at 185lbs.
