Dominick Reyes is in good spirits following a knockout loss this past Saturday. Reyes was in a pivotal light heavyweight matchup with Carlos Ulberg in the UFC Perth headliner. The bout ended in the opening frame when Ulberg delivered a one-two combination that sent Reyes crashing to the canvas. Ulberg finished the fight via knockout and he figures to be in prime position to challenge the winner of the UFC 320 rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.

Israel Adesanya is no longer seeking a rematch with an unexpected rival. Fans won’t soon forget one of the biggest upsets in combat sports history back in Sept. 2023. Adesanya put the UFC Middleweight Championship at stake against Sean Strickland. “The Last Stylebender” had no answer for the relentless pressure of Strickland, and he dropped the 185-pound title via unanimous decision.

Ronda Rousey has stoked the flames regarding a potential UFC comeback, but one former fighter advises against it. Rousey was a pioneer of women’s MMA, convincing Dana White to introduce the UFC women’s bantamweight division. “Rowdy” was the inaugural UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Her bouts were often quick and one-sided, and she became one of the most popular stars in the UFC. Rousey’s dominant run ended when she was knocked out by Holly Holm via head kick. “Rowdy” then suffered a 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes, which was the last bout of her pro MMA career.

The UFC Perth bout between Neil Magny and Jake Matthews ended in controversy, and one executive has responded. Magny and Matthews shared the Octagon inside RAC Arena in Perth this past Saturday. Referee Jim Perdios officiated the bout, and he caused a stir at the end of the opening frame. Matthews locked in a choke and Perdios appeared to wave the fight off just before the horn. Magny immediately protested, and Perdios ruled that it was the end of the round. Ultimately, Magny mounted a comeback victory in the third round via submission.

Jake Matthews and his team will be filing an appeal following his controversial third-round submission loss to Neil Magny at UFC Perth. Late in the first round, Matthews sunk in a guillotine choke, and with one second left, the ref stopped the fight. However, Magny popped right back up and protested, which led to the ref ruling he never actually stopped the fight, and that the bout would continue. Matthews had a solid second round, but Magny rallied and submitted the Aussie in the third round for a comeback win, which resulted in plenty of controversy.

The Octagon returned to Australia for tonight’s UFC Perth event, and four fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses. The fight card was headlined by a key light heavyweight contest between perennial division contenders Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes. The bout proved to be a coming out party for ‘Black Jag’. After outstriking his opponent in the early going, Ulberg was able to connect with a check right hook in the final minute which sent Dominick Reyes crashing to the canvas. From there, Ulberg followed up with a huge right hand on the ground that sent ‘The Devastator’ into the shadow realm. It was a statement win for Carlos Ulberg, one which now has many fans and analysts calling for him to receive a title shot next time out.

Former PRIDE champion and MMA legend Wanderlei Silva was knocked out cold during a wild post-fight brawl this evening. Silva had apparently been DQ’d in Round 4 of his fight at Spaten Fight Night 2, this after performing repeated fouls on his opponent Acelino Freitas.
