Last weekend, Mateusz Gamrot was able to defeat Rafael Fiziev in the second round of their lightweight collision. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly a clean win, as Fiziev’s knee gave out and ensured that he was unable to continue. In the immediate aftermath, Gamrot was clearly very pleased to come away with the win, although he made it clear in his post-fight interview that it wasn’t the way he wanted it to happen.

Now, with the future uncertain, many see the 185-pound division as one of the most unpredictable in all of mixed martial arts.

On the feet, Godinez dropped Reed, while she also was able to outwrestle her and even got a submission win. Showing off her complete game is something the Mexican-Canadian has wanted to do for quite some time, so she was thrilled with her performance.

Bellator middleweight champion Johnny Eblen had a heated moment with UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, but the beef has quickly subsided. In the main event of Bellator 299, Eblen put his gold on the line against “Rocky’s” brother Fabian Edwards. Eblen scored a third-round KO win, and things got heated afterwards. At one point, Eblen and Leon Edwards exchanged some words.

It was a rough and bloody night for Waterson-Gomez, who was battered en route to a second-round TKO loss. Fan footage captured an emotional Waterson-Gomez being consoled by her close friend Rashad Evans.

Mateusz Gamrot is shooting for the stars following an anticlimactic TKO victory over Rafael Fiziev at UFC Vegas 79. Gamrot vs. Fiziev didn’t end the way most anticipated. In the second round, Fiziev suffered a nasty leg injury after he connected a kick on the elbow of Gamrot. The bout had to be stopped due to the injury, and Gamrot was awarded the TKO win.

The featherweight clash served as the co-main event for UFC Vegas 79. Ige was attempting to extend his winning streak to three, while Mitchell was hoping to rebound from the first loss of his pro MMA career.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 79 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot. The highly anticipated lightweight main event did not result in the exciting finish most fans were hoping for. Mateusz Gamrot and Rafael Fiziev went back and forth in the standup in round one, with ‘Ataman’ appearing to land the more significant shots. After getting up from an early takedown in round two, Fiziev threw a kick that connected with the elbow of Gamrot. That strike caused an injury to Fiziev, who immediately hit the canvas in agony. ‘Gamer’ followed up with a couple of shots before the referee eventually stepped in to call a stop to the contest.

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 79 event was headlined by a highly anticipated lightweight contest featuring Rafael Fiziev taking on Mateusz Gamrot. Fiziev (12-3 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since suffering a majority decision loss to Justin Gaethje back in March of this year. Prior to that setback, ‘Ataman’ was on a six-fight win streak, which included stoppage victories over Renato Moicano, Brad Riddell and Rafael dos Anjos.
