UFC featherweight Jean Silva has given an honest announcement of his defeat to Diego Lopes last weekend. The confidence that Jean Silva has in his own abilities is clear for all to see. It’s been on full display throughout the course of his last few fights, and that was certainly still the case when he battled Diego Lopes in the main event of Noche UFC. Unfortunately, Jean left himself exposed to a nasty counter elbow that wound up serving as his downfall in the battle with Lopes.

While it may not have been the most electric performance of her career, she did manage to secure the win, getting herself back on track after what was a disappointing championship defeat.

The Octagon returned to San Antonio for tonight’s Noche UFC 3 event, and three fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses. The fight card was headlined by a high stake’s featherweight bout featuring Diego Lopes taking on Jean Silva. The contest resulted in an absolutely thrilling contest for as long as it lasted. Diego Lopes was able to get the fight to the floor early in the opening round and proceeded to batter ‘Lord’ with some heavy ground and pound. However, Jean Silva battled back quickly in round two, rocking Lopes with a right hand and then putting him on his bicycle. While moving in for a kill shot, Lopes countered Silva with a perfectly timed spinning elbow which sent Jean crashing to the floor. From there, Lopes promptly finished the fight with ground and pound (see that here).

Arman Tsarukyan booked against former UFC lightweight champ at ACBJJ 18

Arman Tsarukyan is the number two-ranked lightweight contender in the UFC. While he has outlined his competitive return, it will not be under a mixed martial arts ruleset. Islam Makhachev is the listed number one lightweight contender, but with his looming welterweight title bid against 170-pound champ Jack Della Maddalena at MSG later this year, many foresee Tsarukyan being next up for the title. While Tsarukyan versus Ilia Topuria is far from confirmed at this juncture, the former will, in fact, be testing his skills soon with a former UFC lightweight champ. This will transpire at ACBJJ 18 on September 19th. Tsarukyan will grapple against former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Benson Henderson.
