Despite retiring from MMA and vacating his heavyweight crown, where Tom Aspinall was upgraded to undisputed champion, Jones is proving the old adage that MMA retirements are not long-lasting.

Despite the fact that the incident clearly impacted his vision pretty dramatically, the Englishman hasn’t been getting a whole lot of sympathy from the mixed martial arts world.

After UFC Vegas 110, suspicious betting activity associated with Yadier del Valle’s win over Isaac Dulgarian sparked an FBI investigation into the UFC and alleged fight fixing.

Michael Bisping expects Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev to be a much closer fight than the odds suggest. Della Maddalena is looking to defend his welterweight title for the first time when he takes on Makhachev, who vacated his lightweight title to move up. Heading into the bout, Makhachev is a -258 favorite, but UFC analyst Michael Bisping expects the bout to be much closer than the odds suggest.

Valentina Shevchenko isn’t exactly committing to a super fight with Kayla Harrison. Shevchenko has another dream fight to worry about, as she will put her flyweight title on the line against Zhang Weili in the UFC 322 co-headliner. Weili vacated the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship for a chance to fight “Bullet.” The title fight will be held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 15.

Tom Aspinall’s first undisputed heavyweight title defense ended in disaster after several accidental eye pokes by Ciryl Gane in Round 1 at UFC 321. After five minutes to recover, Aspinall was unable to continue competing due to compromised vision, leading to a no-contest.

However, an injury to the Irishman forced him out of the bout, and since then, there hasn’t been much talk about McGregor returning.

Nickal’s fight against Rodolfo Vieira was originally slated for the main card of UFC’s return to Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 15. Many fans scoffed at Nickal getting another main card slot on a stacked card following his TKO loss to Reinier de Ridder.
