UFC president Dana White praised Khabib Nurmagomedov following his retirement from MMA, while also adding he fought with a broken foot. Nurmagomedov put on a stunning performance in the main event of UFC 254, as he was able to submit Justin Gaethje with a triangle choke in the second round. Nurmagomedov improved to 29-0 with the victory, including a 13-0 mark in the UFC, but shocked the MMA community when he immediately announced his retirement from the sport.

Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier was clearly watching today’s UFC 254 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. Poirier of course has a history with both men. ‘The Diamond’ suffered a submission loss to ‘The Eagle’ in the main event of UFC 242, thus surrendering his interim title. Prior to his setback to Khabib, Poirier was riding a five-fight win streak which included a TKO victory over Justin Gaethje.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor and free agent heavyweight Fabricio Werdum traded shots on Twitter over the drug testing in Bellator. McGregor took to social media this week to criticize Bellator for its drug testing procedures. Unlike the UFC which has USADA in addition to the testing from athletic commissions, Bellator relies on the commissions of the jurisdictions where it holds events to provide its drug testing. McGregor believes that Bellator should step up its game and get to the UFC’s level when it comes to bringing in a third-party such as USADA to test.

A highly-anticipated welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev is set to headline a UFC event on December 19 in Las Vegas. As replayed by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, UFC president Dana White appeared on the Jim Rome show on Friday and made the announcement that the Edwards vs. Chimaev fight is a done deal. The fight will reportedly take place at 170lbs at a UFC Fight Night card on December 19 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a five-round headliner.
