MMA analyst Chael Sonnen has explained why he doesn’t think the UFC will book Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz 2. Way back at UFC 244 in late 2019, Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz fought for the BMF title at Madison Square Garden. While Diaz wasn’t exactly at the height of his powers, Masvidal was coming off the back of a remarkable year that saw him knock out both Darren Till and Ben Askren in huge welterweight clashes.

Former UFC fighter Greg Hardy looks set to make his professional boxing debut later this year following his release from the UFC. While he wasn’t exactly a fan favourite upon entering the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Hardy did manage to have some early success following his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series. Alas, in the years following, the 33-year-old continued to suffer a string of defeats with losses to Marcin Tybura, Tai Tuivasa and Sergey Spivak marking the end of his tenure with the promotion.

The winner of that fight should be in prime position to challenge for the 185lbs title their next time out.

Marlon Vera will be headlining his second UFC card in a row as he will take on the former bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz. According to ESPN Deportes, Vera and Cruz have agreed to headline a Fight Night card in August. The location of the event has not yet been determined. The fight is a crucial one for the bantamweight division as the winner could very well be fighting for gold their next time out.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Costa (13-2 MMA) had been accused of striking a health care professional at a local medical center after she allegedly refused to issue the fighter an immunization card for the COVID-19 vaccine. The claim is that ‘The Eraser‘ wanted the immunization card without actually getting the vaccine.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 56 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Alexander Volkov vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik. As many fans and analysts predicted, tonight’s UFC Vegas 56 main event did not make it out of the first round. Alexander Volkov was able to find success with his kicks in the early moments of the contest, this before ultimately putting Jairzinho Rozenstruik down with a flurry of punches. Referee Herb Dean quickly jumped in to wave off the fight and there was no dispute of any early stoppage coming from the corner of Rozenstruik.
