Nate Diaz slams "bitch-ass" Khamzat Chimaev for missing weight at UFC 279

Nate Diaz had some choice words for Khamzat Chimaev and Khabib Nurmagomedov at today’s UFC 279 ceremonial weigh-ins. Diaz (21-13 MMA) was of course slated to collide with Chimaev (11-0 MMA) in Saturday’s pay-per-view event headliner. However, after ‘Borz’ brutally missed the 171lbs limit while weighing-in earlier this morning, the bout was ultimately scrapped as Diaz’s Team found the 7.5lbs weight miss egregious and insulting.

In the new main event of UFC 279, Nate Diaz will take on Tony Ferguson at welterweight. Heading into the fight, Diaz is a +110 underdog while ‘El Cucuy’ is a -130 favorite. Ahead of the fight, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to get their prediction for the scrap. The majority of pros believe Diaz gets it done and many think this will be a much better bout than Diaz-Chiamev was going to be. Many also believe Diaz preparing for five rounds while Ferguson was preparing for three should favor the Stockton, native.

Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson, and Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland had their first faceoffs ahead of tomorrow night’s UFC 279 card. Diaz was supposed to headline UFC 279 against Khamzat Chimaev at welterweight in a scrap he was a massive underdog in. However, on Friday morning, Chimaev was 7.5lbs overweight and immediately the UFC scrambled to save the card.

Rumors had been swirling for the past few hours that ‘Borz’ wasn’t going to make weight, and it’d be by a lot. When Chimaev finally arrived to the scale he stepped on at 178.5 pounds. The Chechen fighter then smiled and threw his arms up in the air. After putting his shorts back on he stepped back on the scale for photos, throwing a quick middle finger to the assembled press before walking off.

The incident, which caused the press conference to be cancelled entirely, occurred moments after Kevin Holland and his upcoming opponent Daniel Rodriguez exited the stage for other fighters to come on.
