New main card lineup announced for next month’s UFC 282 event

UFC 282 had a major shakeup on Wednesday and new the main card lineup has been revealed. Last night, it was revealed that Jiri Prochazka suffered a serious shoulder injury and was forced to withdraw from his UFC 282 light heavyweight title defense against Glover Teixeira. The fight was set to be the main event but with him being out for likely a year, he decided to vacate the belt. The new main event will now see Jan Blachowicz take on Magomed Ankalaev for the vacant light heavyweight title.

Sean O’Malley has opened up on who he thinks would win a potential fight between Alex Pereira and Khamzat Chimaev. At UFC 281, Pereira became the new middleweight champion as he scored a fifth-round TKO over Israel Adesanya. To no surprise, after the win, Chimaev took to social media to call the Brazilian out. He also told Pereira to sign the contract to fight him at UFC 282, which obviously isn’t going to happen.

Conor McGregor has responded after AEW world champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman took shots at Paddy Pimblett. Pimblett is one of the newest stars in the UFC and him and MJF took shots at one another over Instagram comments. It caught many by surprise but one of MJF’s digs was calling Pimblett a dollar store McGregor.

Conor McGregor went off on a Twitter tirade Wednesday evening, taking aim at both Joe Rogan and Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor (22-6 MMA) has not competed since July 2021 at UFC 274 where he suffered a broken leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier (28-7 MMA).

Stevie Ray is happy to shut up the doubters as he fights for the PFL lightweight title. Following Ray’s majority decision win over Michael Johnson, it was reported he retired from MMA. Yet, he then told BJPENN.com that he only retired because the UFC released him and went on to sign with the PFL. Ray then ended his two-and-a-half-year layoff but dropped his debut to Alex Martinez. After losing to Martinez, he submitted Anthony Pettis to earn a playoff spot and beat Pettis once again to advance to the finals.

Jiri Prochazka has issued a statement after withdrawing from UFC 282. It was revealed on Wednesday that Prochazka suffered a serious shoulder injury that forced him to pull out of his UFC 282 light heavyweight title fight against Glover Teixeira. He also vacated the light heavyweight title as he didn’t want to hold up the division and has now taken to Instagram to issue a lengthy statement.

The back-and-forth win was a massive one for Stephens, as it snapped a seven-fight winless streak. He previously lost to names such as Yair Rodriguez, Calvin Kattar, Mateusz Gamrot, and Clay Collard.

UFC middleweight Chris Curtis shared some advice for Israel Adesanya on how to beat Alex Pereira in their rematch. Pereira continues to haunt Adesanya’s career after the Brazilian took out the long-time champ by TKO at UFC 281. The victory moved Pereira to 3-0 over Adesanya, 1-0 in MMA. The previous two wins came in Kickboxing in 2016 and 2017. In the first meeting, Pereira scored a unanimous decision, but in the second, he separated Adesanya from consciousness.

Jiri Prochazka is no longer the UFC’s light heavyweight champion. Prochazka was set to defend his light heavyweight title for the first time in the main event of UFC 282 against Glover Teixeira. It was an immediate rematch of their UFC 275 fight which Prochazka won by fifth-round submission.
