In the co-main event of UFC 247, Valentina Shevchenko is looking to defend her flyweight title for a third time when she battles Katlyn Chookagian. Heading into the fight, Shevchenko is a -1200 favorite while the American challenger is a +700 underdog. Ahead of the fight, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to get their predictions for the scrap. To no surprise, the majority are leaning towards Shevchenko getting it done, but one is picking the upset. The pros also believe the champ is running out of challengers and think the Amanda Nunes trilogy should happen next.
Alexander Volkanovski responds to The Korean Zombie claiming he doesn't finish fights

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski fired back at top contender “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung after his rival claimed the champ doesn’t finish fights. The Korean Zombie criticized Volkanovski for not finishing fights in an effort to egg him on and secure a potential fight against the champion. Volkanovski saw The Korean Zombie’s criticisms and didn’t take kindly to them. In response, Volkanovski posted a photo of The Korean Zombie getting knocked out cold by Yair Rodriguez.

Over the course of their two bouts, the two decorated champions traded near endless trash talk, and even brawled at a press conference. Michael Bisping doesn’t believe Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal staged their altercation but he does wonder if the UFC had their meetup planned. Usman and Masvidal are on a collision course. The two have been trading barbs and it led to a confrontation on Radio Row in Miami. “The Nigerian Nightmare” and “Gamebred” exchanged heated words and had to be separated during Super Bowl LIV week. UFC president Dana White said the incident forced him to prematurely announce plans to book a welterweight title bout between champion Usman and Masvidal for International Fight Week in July.

In the run up to his title defence at UFC 247, Jon Jones made an appearance on ESPN “First Take.” His upcoming opponent, Dominick Reyes, was a hot topic, but the lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor also came up. The host, Stephen A. Smith, gave credence to Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s box office success in the sport. Co-host Max Kellerman postulated that Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently the best pound-for-pound fighter. Jones didn’t take offence to the comment but quickly gave justification for his superior GOAT status.

Both Jones and Shevchenko are set to defend their titles against challengers Dominick Reyes and Katlyn Chookagian, respectively, at UFC 247 this Saturday night at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Prior to the fight, the two champions took the time to pose for a very cool photo of them both showing off their gold belts.
