Jon Jones made headlines earlier this week when he confiscated cans of spray paint from some would-be vandals after a protest in Albuquerque. A video was released on social media showing ‘Bones’ removing cans from two individuals who planned on executing some destruction his hometown.

Jorge Masvidal has not competed inside of the Octagon since defeating Nate Diaz for the BMF Title at UFC 244 in November of 2019. Despite his incredible run last year, which included stoppage wins over Darren Till, Ben Askren and the aforementioned ‘Stockton Slugger’, Masvidal has not been booked to fight in 2020.

Covington recently confirmed he left ATT after having feuds with several fighters. Masvidal, meanwhile, says “Chaos” was cancer in the gym and the former interim welterweight champion was actually fired from ATT.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has taken to social media to show a photo of the arm he famously broke against Frank Mir at UFC 48. With the vacant UFC heavyweight title on the line, Mir famously broke Sylvia’s arm just 50 seconds into their title fight with an armbar. Sylvia refused to tap out, but referee Herb Dean saw the limb was compromised and stopped the fight. It’s still to date one of the most visual examples of a broken limb that we’ve seen inside the Octagon.

For “Sugar” he says he’s excited to get back in there just three months after his last fight. He also believes Wineland is the perfect opponent for him.

MMA legend Bas Rutten has shared his take on the protests, and in some instances looting, that is going on all over the United States this week. Rutten shared his thoughts in a lengthy Facebook post. He began by condemning the killing of George Floyd and the racism that caused it. He went on to support the peaceful protests that are ongoing, and share is disapproval with the violent outliers partaking in looting and vandalism.

In his last fight against Glover Teixeira back in May, Smith took a lot of damage to the extent that many had called for his corner to stop the fight, which they did not do but the referee ultimately ended it in the fifth-round.

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has issued a statement amid the ongoing George Floyd protests, condemning the racism and injustice sweeping the United States and the planet. Floyd, and African American, was killed by a caucasian police officer in Minneapolis last month. The officer was subsequently charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Ever since, the country has been roiling with impassioned protests, as citizens demand an end to the deep-rooted and festering racism that led to Floyd’s killing.

Chael Sonnen has named himself the new UFC light heavyweight champion after Jon Jones vacated the spot over rising tensions with the promotion. This week, the conflict between Jon Jones and the UFC reached a boiling point. The organization’s president, Dana White, claimed that the fighter was asking too much money for a Francis Ngannou mega fight. “Bones” responded and accused White of lying, as he denied even offering a set figure or entering matchup negotiations. He also suggested that he feels undervalued by the organization and isn’t paid accordingly, especially compared to boxers like Deontay Wilder. He eventually announced his decision to vacate the light heavyweight title.

Mike Winkeljohn says Jon Jones is happy with vacating the light heavyweight belt and walking away from the sport for a few years. Recently, Jones and Dana White have not seen eye-to-eye about his pay to move up to heavyweight and fight Francis Ngannou. “Bones” has come out and said he would walk away from the sport and on Sunday night claimed he was vacating the belt. According to his coach in Winkeljohn, the champ is 100 percent serious about it.
