Marvin Vettori was heated when he went face-to-face with Paulo Costa at the UFC Vegas 41 faceoffs. Vettori and Costa are set to headline the card and it was scheduled to be at middleweight. Yet, at media day on Wednesday, it was revealed the Brazilian wouldn’t be able to make the weight and the scrap was moved to a 195lbs catchweight. However, on Thursday evening, it was then announced it would be a light heavyweight fight, where both men successfully made weight.

Vettori and Costa were scheduled to fight in a five-round middleweight bout that headlines UFC Vegas 41, but Costa showed up to fight week heavy and not on track to make weight. With Costa unable to miss the 185lbs middleweight limit, the UFC shifted the fight up to 205lbs instead. According to “The Italian Dream,” the weight issues are solely from Costa’s side, but he was still willing to take the fight.

Costa fought Adesanya for the UFC middleweight title last October at UFC 253 and he suffered a second-round knockout loss for his troubles. Following the fight, Costa revealed that he was hungover in the Octagon after having drunk a bottle of wine the night before the fight. According to Costa, he had problems sleeping so he drank the bottle in order to help him fall asleep. While Costa eventually did fall asleep, being hungover in the fight clearly was not a good idea as he ended up looking listless and suffered a knockout defeat.

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori plans on having face-to-face chat with “puppet” Paul Felder over his UFC commentary. Vettori recently took to social media to put Felder on blast following his commentary in the Dan Hooker vs. Nasrat Haqparst fight at UFC 266 last month. According to the Italian, he was not being fair to Haqparast during his commentary for the fight, and he took to Twitter to put Felder on blast. As far as “The Italian Dream” goes, Felder was being biased during his commentary and he felt like he had no choice but to call him out for his analysis.

UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori and commentator Paul Felder got into a heated social media exchange during the UFC 266 broadcast. Felder was filling in for Joe Rogan in the UFC 266 commentary booth, and Vettori was clearly not thrilled with the job that he did behind the desk. The UFC middleweight contender took to his social media during the broadcast to tweet out that he is not a fan of Felder and that he had pressed mute on his television because he couldn’t stand to listen to him anymore. Following what Vettori wrote, Felder also saw the comments from the Italian and he fired back at the middleweight for taking to social media to publicly blast his call.

Paulo Costa will make his return to the Octagon in October. Costa was supposed to fight Jared Cannonier in August but he withdrew from the fight due to undisclosed reasons. Since then, he has been taking shots at Marvin Vettori and according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the two have agreed to headline a Fight Night card on October 23. There is no location listed, but it’s likely it will take place at the UFC Apex.

Vettori lost a unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 263 in a failed bid to capture the UFC middleweight title. UFC featherweight contender Giga Chikadze ripped the judges for their scoring of the UFC 263 main event, and Marvin Vettori responded to it. Adesanya defeated Vettori by scorecards of 50-45 in the main event of this past Saturday night’s UFC 263 event to defend the UFC middleweight title. Although Vettori had some success with his grappling at times throughout the contest, it was mostly Adesanya who had the upper hand both on the feet and on the mat. But as far as the judges went, the fight was a blowout for Adesanya, and they all thought he won every round of the fight.
