UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje believes that former divisional champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is not running his Twitter account. On Friday, Nurmagomedov’s Twitter account posted something that criticized Ferguson for his recent stretch. For Nurmagomedov, Ferguson hasn’t accomplished much over the past six years, and he made sure to let his former rival know that on social media. The thing is, Nurmagomedov is currently a retired fighter, so it came out of nowhere to see him criticizing Ferguson, particularly since both men are at completely different points in their careers. While Nurmagomedov is happily retired at the top of his game, Ferguson has struggled badly in the last few years to even get into the win column.

In the lead-up to UFC 268, both Gaethje and Michael Chandler were vocal in saying this fight was a number one contender bout. They both certainly had a point as Gaethje was ranked two and Chandler was five. In the end, it was “The Highlight” who earned a clear-cut decision in one of the best fights of the year.

UFC bantamweight contender Jose Aldo revealed a planned 2016 superfight against former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov that fell apart. According to Aldo, however, “The Eagle” turned down the fight, and Aldo says he has no idea why he didn’t want it.

With Nurmagomedov now on the sidelines, there have been many analysts who have said that Makhachev is the next lightweight champion. He has a fighting style that is similar to Nurmagomedov and so far in the UFC, he has been extremely dominant with a 9-1 record including an eight-fight win streak at the moment. On Saturday at UFC 267, Makhachev will look to defeat Hooker.

Nurmagomedov was the former UFC lightweight champion and is considered by many to be one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. But he retired earlier this year, and he essentially passed the torch on to Makhachev to continue the legacy of Russian lightweight champions. There have been many who have said that Makhachev has what it takes to be the next Nurmagomedov.

So the comparison is there.

According to Shevchenko, she wanted to show her respect to them, as Shevchenko believes ring card girls are important to MMA.

UFC legend BJ Penn shared his theory as to why former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov would not fight welterweight kingpin Kamaru Usman. Penn was once considered the greatest lightweight in UFC history, but Nurmagomedov and his 29-0 MMA/13-0 UFC record has surpassed Penn in the eyes of many as the lightweight GOAT. Penn, however, recently shot back at that notion, saying that he believed Nurmagomedov walked away from his career too early. In addition, Penn also believes that Nurmagomedov did not challenge himself enough by moving to another weight class.
