However, Eddie Alvarez seems to be more interested in making his first title defense against current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov has taken to Twitter on several occasions, and even sent verbal shots Alvarez’ way in various interviews.

Lightweight #1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov continued his streak of calling out the UFC’s best today when he simultaneously roasted UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and UFC lightweight contender Nate Diaz in one Tweet. Nurmagomedov and Alvarez have had a back and forth war of words since Alvarez won the UFC lightweight championship last month. While Nurmagomedov is the lightweight #1 contender, Alvarez has been very vocal about the fact that he doesn’t believe ‘The Eagle’ deserves a title shot.

Prior to Nurmagomedov’s return to the Octagon earlier this year, where he TKOd UFC newcomer Darrell Horcher, Nurmagomedov defeated Rafael dos Anjos, who went on to become lightweight champ. The win over Horcher extended Nurmagomedov’s professional record to 23-0, and his UFC record to 7-0.

Nurmagomedov’s run at a UFC title has been a rather lengthy one however given his 2-year layoff following his win 2014 win over Rafael dos Anjos.
