With the vacant UFC flyweight title on the line in his next fight, contender Joseph Benavidez is not looking back. Benavidez is scheduled to take on Deiveson Figueiredo in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 27 which will take place in Norfolk, Virginia for the title that Cejudo was stripped off as he maintains his focus on the bantamweight division and his title there. During a recent interview with Jimmy Smith and Miesha Tate for MMA Tonight on Sirius XM, Benavidez was asked about the possibility of going up to bantamweight to chase a fight with the former flyweight champion, and there was little to no interest for him. Already holding a victory over Cejudo, Benavidez said he doesn’t feel a fight against Cejudo is one that he needs to go chase.

The main event of UFC Norfolk on February 29 will see Joseph Benavidez get another chance at UFC flyweight gold, when he takes on Deiveson Figueiredo. The title became vacant back in December when former flyweight champion Henry Cejudo relinquished his title as he focuses on challengers in the bantamweight division. While there is history between Cejudo and Benavidez, he’s got his focus set on winning UFC gold, something he’s almost accomplished earlier in his career. During an interview with Jimmy Smith and Miesha Tate of MMA Tonight on Sirius XM, Benavidez was asked about the situation regarding the flyweight title and his former opponent Henry Cejudo.

Henry Cejudo & Karyn Bryant’s issues regarding the nickname Cejudo gave Aljamain Sterling have seemingly been resolved by the pair. A few days ago, in the midst of Cejudo and Sterling going back and forth on social media, the man known as “Triple C” decided to call his rival “Aljamima”. Many members of the mixed martial arts community were quick to call Cejudo out for racism, with one such example being ESPN anchor Karyn Bryant.

Tonight Aljamain Sterling joined Ariel Helwani’s MMA podcast to discuss potential bouts. Number one on “The Funkmaster’s” radar is the “The Boogeyman,” Petr Yan. Sterling revealed that he had a run-in with the Russian fighter at the UFC Performance Institute, and has previously called him out for a fight on Twitter.

Cejudo deemed himself “Triple C” after he beat Marlon Moraes for the bantamweight title back in June. He was the flyweight, bantamweight champion, and Olympic gold medalist. But, he is looking to add featherweight champion to that list.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has his sights set on the current champion Henry Cejudo, and he’s denouncing Cejudo’s claim of being the GOAT. During an appearance on Food Truck Diaries with Brendan Schaub, Cruz took aim at reigning bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, who claims he’s the greatest fighter of all time. When asked about a potential fight against Cejudo, Cruz took aim at the champion saying that if Cejudo wants to call himself the GOAT, he’d have to beat him first.

The King of Cringe, better known as Henry Cejudo, looks set to focus all of his attention on the bantamweight division after being stripped of his flyweight crown due to inactivity. With that in mind, it certainly appears as if he has a list as long as his arm regarding challengers that could go after the belt.

According to the former Olympic wrestler, it was his own choice to relinquish the belt.

Henry Cejudo has taken the time to react to the news that he has been stripped of the UFC Flyweight Championship. Cejudo, who hasn’t fought at flyweight since the start of the year when he successfully retained the belt against TJ Dillashaw, is no longer the champ after it was reported that Joseph Benavidez will fight Deiveson Figueiredo to determine the new champion on February 29 at UFC Norfolk.

He shared the Octagon with Marlon Moraes on the main card of UFC 245 in Las Vegas. The bout went the distance and Moraes was awarded the split nod. While some argue that Aldo should’ve emerged victorious, the fact remains that the former featherweight kingpin lost the fight.
