Two-weight champion Amanda Nunes is flirting with the idea of retirement, but UFC President Dana White isn’t ready to see his dominant champion walk away just yet. Following her win over Felicia Spencer at UFC 250, Nunes became the first ever fighter to successfully defend both of her titles while holding them simultaneously. After her win over Spencer, Nunes opened up about the possibility of retirement saying, she’s achieved everything that she has wanted to do.

UFC President Dana White isn’t sure what to do with former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva; one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. Silva, who is now 45 years old, has lost his last two fights, first losing a decision to reigning UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya, then losing via TKO to Jared Cannonier as the result of a leg injury. Those losses were preceded by a tight decision win over Derek Brunson, and a string of four straight losses to Daniel Cormier, Michael Bisping and Chris Weidman (twice).

UFC President Dana White is looking at options to get fans back to UFC events, but he’s not willing to compromise with socially-distanced crowds. White has been able to promote multiple events since the coronavirus pandemic began. Several occurred in Jacksonville, Florida, and the most recent have occurred inside the UFC Apex facility. Several more will occur on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi in July. None have or will welcome fans.

UFC President Dana White has taken another shot at boxing promoter Bob Arum, this time criticizing the ratings for Top Rank’s recent return to ESPN. Top Rank returned to ESPN early last week, just a few days before the UFC’s most recent card.
Dana White discusses San Antonio shooting, hopes perpetrator does not prove to be a UFC fighter

UFC president Dana White discussed the shocking San Antonio shooting, where the shooter allegedly told people he was a UFC fighter from California. Eight people were injured during the shooting on Friday night, though thankfully none were pronounced dead. According to CNN, a highly intoxicated individual was denied entry into a San Antonio bar. The shooter allegedly said, “Don’t you know who I am? I’m a UFC fighter from California,” before going back to their vehicle, grabbing a long rifle, and hitting eight people with bullets. San Antonio police are still investigating the incident.

UFC president Dana White responded to fans who criticized last night’s UFC on ESPN 10 card, which didn’t feature many big names or ranked fighters on it. White and the UFC were heavily criticized for the lineup for last night’s card, which featured a main event between women’s flyweights Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo. Eye, Calvillo, and men’s flyweight Jordan Espinosa were the only fighters on the card with a ranking beside their name, which led many fans and media to criticize the card as being weak and lacking depth.

A couple of weeks ago, ‘Bones’ expressed interest in moving up a weight class to take on feared knockout artist Francis Ngannou. Unfortunately for fight fans, negotiations for the fight broke down and shortly after Jones suggested he was considering taking a hiatus from MMA.

UFC president Dana White shot down a potential matchup between former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and former UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis. Pettis reached out to Silva on social media this week and requested a matchup against the legend, which the Brazilian accepted. Fans seemed to be excited about the prospect of a potential catchweight fight between two former UFC champions, but that won’t be happening anytime soon as White shot down any notion of this matchup.

Dana White says Jorge Masvidal is very similar to the Diaz brothers in terms of negotiating fights. For years, the UFC has had a hard time getting both Nick and Nate Diaz into the Octagon. The two have wanted more money and at one point, White said he was having someone else in the UFC deal with the Diaz brothers as he couldn’t bare the frustration anymore. The two have gone years in between fights and now the UFC boss says it is getting very similar with Jorge Masvidal.

UFC President Dana White has sent some return fire in the direction of newly retired two-division champion Conor McGregor. McGregor surprised fight fans the world over when he announced his retirement last Saturday night. Shortly after announcing his retirement on social media, he gave a few quotes to ESPN, explaining that he simply doesn’t see any reason to continue fighting right now, as there are no opportunities that excite him.

It’s official. As the rumors have suggested for weeks, Dana White’s much-discussed UFC Fight Island is none other than Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on social media on Tuesday, White confirmed the setting of Fight Island. He also dropped the dates of the first four events to go down on Fight Island: July 11, 15, 18 and 25.

Cormier, who is rumored to be fighting Stipe Miocic later this year in the third fight of their heavyweight trilogy, has always been a big fan of McGregor’s work – although, as we all know, “DC” is also close friends with Conor’s biggest rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nunes defeated Felicia Spencer via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 250 this past weekend to improve her win streak to 11 straight fights. She is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in women’s MMA history and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Naturally, the question has to be asked what’s next for her given that she has dominated everyone who she has fought thus far.

UFC president Dana White was not happy when he was asked about why so many fighters on the UFC roster are now asking the organization for more money. In the last few weeks, we have seen Henry Cejudo retire, Jon Jones ask for his release, Jorge Masvidal ask for more money, Sean O’Malley ask for a raise, and Conor McGregor announce his retirement. For most of these fighters, the No. 1 complaint as to why they are airing their grievances is fighter pay. Compared to most other major professional sports leagues, the UFC pays its athletes a far smaller fraction of the revenue.

UFC president Dana White reacted to Conor McGregor’s surprising announcement that he is retiring from mixed martial arts following UFC 250. McGregor sent out a Tweet immediately following last night’s pay-per-view card that indicated he is planning on retiring. It’s not the first time McGregor has sent out a Tweet saying he is retiring, and every time he has said in the past he’s hanging up his gloves he’s eventually returned to the Octagon.
