Curtis Blaydes wasn’t too impressed with Jairzinho Rozenstruik’s win over Augusto Sakai. Ahead of Rozenstruik-Sakai, Blaydes said he knew he would face the winner so he was paying close attention to it. Although Rozenstruik got the first-round stoppage win he says he wasn’t impressed by Rozenstruik or his technique.

An important heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been added to this fall’s UFC 266 pay-per-view card. MMAFighting.com first reported that Blaydes vs. Rozenstruik will take place at UFC 266, which takes place on September 25 at a location that has yet to be determined. The main event for the card is scheduled to be UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz vs. Glover Teixeira for 205lbs gold. Also expected to take place on the card is a matchup between UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.

Curtis Blaydes has opened up on his loss to Derrick Lewis. Back on February 20, Blaydes and Lewis were finally set to fight after years of trash-talking one another. In the lead-up to the fight, many expected Blaydes to use his wrestling to control the fight. However, that was far from the case as the first-round was a kickboxing fight which Blaydes won. Yet, in the second round, as Blaydes went for a takedown, Lewis landed a perfectly timed uppercut that KO’d Blaydes.

UFC heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes released a statement following his nasty knockout loss to Derrick Lewis at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 19. Blaydes was a massive betting favorite heading into the UFC Vegas 19 main event against Lewis, and for the first round at least, he appeared to be the better fighter. Blaydes didn’t even need to use his wrestling in the first round as he was able to outstrike Lewis and take the first round. However, the second round would prove to be a different beast. After attempting a takedown, Lewis connected on a gigantic uppercut which knocked his opponent to the floor, where he landed two follow-up shots before the referee stepped in.

Despite winning a unanimous decision, Blaydes was not able to get the finish in that fight. Curtis Blaydes says he is open to fighting Jairzinho Rozenstruik after Derrick Lewis if Jon Jones gets the next UFC heavyweight title shot. Blaydes is set to take on Lewis in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event on February 20 in Las Vegas. Blaydes is currently the No. 2 ranked heavyweight in the UFC, while Lewis is No. 4, so the winner of this fight is most likely going to want a title shot against the winner of UFC 260’s Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou 2. However, with Jones set to make his heavyweight debut this summer, UFC president Dana White has already hinted that “Bones” is likely going to get the next title shot.
