The Octagon returns to Chicago for tonight’s UFC 319 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev. Du Plessis (23-2 MMA) will be looking to earn his third consecutive title defense when he takes to the Octagon this evening. ‘Stillknocks’ most recently competed at February’s UFC 312 event in Sydney, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over former title holder Sean Strickland. Prior to that, the South African had submitted Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 in August of last year.

This evening, Khamzat Chimaev will challenge Dricus du Plessis for the UFC middleweight championship. It’s an opportunity that has been a long time coming for Khamzat, and it’s one he’s been working towards for quite some time. Whether or not he’s able to get the job done, of course, is entirely up in the air, especially given what DDP has already accomplished up to this point in his career.

It’s the first title opportunity for the unbeaten “Borz,” who weighed in at 183 pounds for the bout. He is looking to show the world that he isn’t just hype in a stacked middleweight division.

The main event middleweight title fight remains intact, as champion Dricus du Plessis weighed in at 185 pounds, while Khamzat Chimaev tipped the scales at 183 pounds. Other fighters on the main card also managed to hit their targets.
