UFC legend Anderson Silva sent a video to former rival Chael Sonnen where he once again expressed how serious he is about a superfight with Conor McGregor. Silva shocked the MMA community recently when he called McGregor out for a catchweight superfight. Considering McGregor has fought the majority of his career at 145lbs and 155lbs and Silva has fought mainly at 185lbs and as high as 205lbs, most fans raised an eyebrow when they saw the callout. But Silva said he wanted to fight at a catchweight at 176lbs, which he believes is marketable, and McGregor has been fighting recently at 170lbs. So perhaps the callout isn’t as crazy as it seemed at first glance.

Dana White has responded to Jorge Masvidal’s claim that he wants his UFC release. On Friday, Masvidal sent several tweets to voice his frustrations about his pay and told the UFC to release him. He is just the latest fighter to complain about fighter pay. Jon Jones went on a Twitter rant about that. Henry Cejudo, meanwhile, retired but said if the promotion paid him more, he would return.

Devin Clark is confident he will be the first one to hand Alonzo Menifield a loss. Menifield is currently 9-0 and returning to the Octagon after a year away due to a neck injury. For Clark, he thinks the year away from the cage might impact the prospect, but he isn’t counting on it.

Mike Winkeljohn says if Jon Jones does move up in weight to fight Francis Ngannou it would be the end of his light heavyweight tenure. For weeks now, Jones and Ngannou have been talking about fighting one another. Recently, however, pay has been an issue for the light heavyweight champ. He then said he was going to retire and vacate the belt, which coach Winkeljohn said to BJPENN.com is 100 percent true.

Dana White says that UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes is now entering “Tom Brady status” in regard to her accomplishments. Brady, the former quarterback of the New England Patriots and the newest member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is one of the most accomplished athletes in sports history. He has been to nine Super Bowls and led the Patriots to six of them, making him arguably the single-most successful player in NFL history. Brady is also a personal friend of White and so comparing Nunes to him shows how strongly White feels about his female champion.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that the winner of the UFC 250 bantamweight bout between Aljamain Sterling and Cory Sandhagen will get a title shot. Aside from the main event between UFC women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer, Sterling vs. Sandhagen is the most important fight at this weekend’s UFC 250 card. And now, according to the UFC bossman during the UFC 250 pre-fight media scrum, the winner of this fight will be getting a title shot at 135lbs.

However, the negotiations for the fight seem to have hit a standstill, as Masvidal claims the UFC refuses to pay him what he’s worth.

On Friday afternoon, Masvidal took to Twitter to share his frustration with the stalled negotiations for a welterweight title fight with Kamaru Usman. He began by daring the UFC to release him from his contract if they’re not prepared to pay him what he’s worth.

On Saturday night, the UFC will return to our screens with UFC 250, an under-the-radar pay-per-view emanating from the promotion’s APEX facility in Las Vegas. UFC 250 will be headlined by a women’s featherweight title fight between champion Amanda Nunes, who also holds the promotion’s bantamweight strap, and challenger Felicia Spencer. The bout will mark Nunes’ first defense of the featherweight title since she captured it with an unforgettable knockout win over Cris Cyborg. The bout will also mark Spencer’s first shot at UFC gold.

It was the Brazilian MMA legend’s second such accident in a four-year span. He says wearing a helmet save his life on both occasions.

The oddsmakers have released the opening odds for a potential welterweight grudge match between bitter rivals Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley. Woodley said this week that the UFC has already contacted him about a potential Covington matchup and the former UFC welterweight champion says he has accepted the fight. Woodley and Covington have been involved in a heated rivalry for a few years now, and finally, in 2020 it seems like we may see these two settle their beef inside the Octagon. The fight is not yet official but it seems highly likely to be booked soon.

Gilbert Burns says he has volunteered to challenge Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 251, which is expected to go down on July 11. Burns divulged this information in an interview with MMA Fighting.
