The main event of UFC 315 had major implications for not just the welterweight division, but the 155-pound weight class as well. A successful title defense for Muhammad would’ve likely meant a showdown between UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria. Following Maddalena’s title win, however, the door is now open for Makhachev to attempt double-champ status.

Muhammad put the UFC Welterweight Championship at stake for the first time this past Saturday. “Remember the Name” hung in tough throughout the title fight, but the striking of Maddalena was on point. Muhammad also didn’t have the same success in the grappling that he’s been used to, and all factors ultimately led to a unanimous decision win for Maddalena.

Shevchenko is the reigning UFC titleholder at 125 pounds, and she had a successful defense this past Saturday. “Bullet” thwarted the challenge of Manon Fiorot in the co-main event of UFC 315 in Montreal. Shevchenko scored a unanimous decision victory to retain her gold.

Jack Della Maddalena wouldn’t be surprised if Shavkat Rakhmonov is upset by the possibility of Islam Makhachev getting the next welterweight title fight. Maddalena etched his name in the history books by becoming the UFC Welterweight Champion this past Saturday. He battled Belal Muhammad for the gold in the main event of UFC 315 in Montreal. Maddalena’s striking and takedown defense were on point, and he managed to pull off the unanimous decision win.

Valentina Shevchenko emerged victorious over Manon Fiorot on Saturday, but she doesn’t want her UFC 315 opponent to hold up her end of a bet. Shevchenko was able to overcome the size advantage that the challenger had. When Fiorot was able to win the grappling exchanges, she couldn’t muster up much damage. This allowed Shevchenko to take over the fight with her pinpoint striking, earning her a unanimous decision win.

Jose Aldo says he didn’t enter his UFC 315 matchup against Aiemann Zahabi healthy. Aldo and Zahabi shared the Octagon inside Bell Centre in Montreal. The bout went the distance, and Zahabi was awarded the unanimous decision victory. After the fight, Aldo announced his retirement from pro MMA competition.

Islam Makhachev has dropped a stern warning for Jack Della Maddalena. Maddalena is the newly minted UFC Welterweight Champion. He demonstrated solid takedown defense, movement, and striking to prevent Belal Muhammad from having the success he’d been used to. While Muhammad was always in the fight, Maddalena was a step or two ahead of him most times. It led to a unanimous decision victory for Maddalena, who is the first UFC champion born in Perth.

Fans were concerned for one fighter on the UFC 315 prelims, but there is some good news. A viral video of Bruno Silva’s loss against Marc-André Barriault has surfaced. The clip was of the moment Silva took an elbow to the side of the head. Silva left the Octagon on a stretcher and was taken to a local hospital. The UFC broadcast noted that while Silva complained of neck issues, he was alert and was able to move his extremities.
