Veteran MMA referee and Bellator color commentator John McCarthy believes the UFC 244 main event between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal was stopped too soon by the doctor. Speaking on the ‘Weighing In’ podcast, McCarthy was asked by host Josh Thomson what he thought about the controversial doctor stoppage at UFC 244. This is what McCarthy had to say.

Nate Diaz has said goodbye to the fight game and is no longer interested in a rematch with his UFC 244 foe Jorge Masvidal. Diaz returned to the Octagon from a three-year hiatus to fight Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. He won this fight via unanimous decision. Last weekend, Diaz went on to face Jorge Masvidal for the “BMF” belt in one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the year. In this fight, which headlined UFC 244, both fighters showed incredible heart and toughness, but Masvidal gave a stronger performance. The fight was stopped by the doctor at the end of the third round due to a cut above Diaz’s eye, leaving “Gamebred” to claim BMF gold.

The latest fighter to call him out is former NFL player Greg Hardy. Hardy called Fury out shortly after the boxer was targeted by a top heavyweight in Francis Ngannou.

Aniah Blanchard has been missing since October 24 and was last seen at a gas station on October 23. Over the course of the last week or so many figures from within the mixed martial arts community have come out in support of Harris and his family, even offering to contribute towards the financial reward that has been put in place for the case.

UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou said that boxing legend Mike Tyson has agreed to train him for a superfight boxing match against Tyson Fury. Ngannou took to his social media today to say that he has talked to “Iron Mike” and that Tyson has agreed to prepare him for a boxing bout against Fury. If we are to believe “The Predator,” he will at some point step into the boxing ring and challenge Fury, widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.

Jorge Masvidal was masterful in the main event of UFC 244 against Nate Diaz and the BMF champion’s head coach Mike Brown believes that a rematch wouldn’t go much differently. “Gamebred” defeated the gritty and tough Diaz via third-round TKO due to the cage side doctor stopping the fight after a huge cut was opened above the right eye of Diaz. Many were disappointed in the ending of the highly anticipated welterweight showdown at MSG, but Masvidal was clearly ahead on the judges’ scorecards and certainly didn’t seem to be slowing down.

Dana White says that Alexander Gustafsson plans on coming out of retirement to fight again. The Swedish fighter last fought in June when he was defeated by Anthony Smith via fourth-round submission. Prior to that, “The Mauler” was TKO’d by light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in the third round.
