UFC President Dana White shared some crazy news regarding Khabib Nurmagomedov at today’s UFC 254 post-fight press conference. Nurmagomedov (29-0 MMA) had of course squared off with Justin Gaethje in today’s pay-per-view event headliner with the promotions undisputed lightweight championship on the line.

The highly anticipated lightweight title unification bout did not prove to be the “fight of the year” many were expecting. Instead, Khabib Nurmagomedov seemingly had his way with Justin Gaethje, earning a rather quick second round submission win.

UFC president Dana White praised Khabib Nurmagomedov following his retirement from MMA, while also adding he fought with a broken foot. Nurmagomedov put on a stunning performance in the main event of UFC 254, as he was able to submit Justin Gaethje with a triangle choke in the second round. Nurmagomedov improved to 29-0 with the victory, including a 13-0 mark in the UFC, but shocked the MMA community when he immediately announced his retirement from the sport.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from MMA following his submission win over Justin Gaethje. Nurmagomedov put on a stunning performance at UFC 254 on Saturday at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, perhaps the absolute best performance of his UFC career. Nurmagomedov dominated Gaethje with his grappling, forcing his opponent to sleep in the second round after the referee missed the tap. Immediately after the fight, Nurmagomedov spoke to UFC announcer Jon Ank and announced he is retiring from mixed martial arts.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor and free agent heavyweight Fabricio Werdum traded shots on Twitter over the drug testing in Bellator. McGregor took to social media this week to criticize Bellator for its drug testing procedures. Unlike the UFC which has USADA in addition to the testing from athletic commissions, Bellator relies on the commissions of the jurisdictions where it holds events to provide its drug testing. McGregor believes that Bellator should step up its game and get to the UFC’s level when it comes to bringing in a third-party such as USADA to test.

A highly-anticipated welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev is set to headline a UFC event on December 19 in Las Vegas. As replayed by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, UFC president Dana White appeared on the Jim Rome show on Friday and made the announcement that the Edwards vs. Chimaev fight is a done deal. The fight will reportedly take place at 170lbs at a UFC Fight Night card on December 19 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a five-round headliner.
